sorry, yes, i'll start my own thread

researched the pinnacle.  comes with a pared down version of elgato's software which i would have to pay money to get full use out of.  might as well buy the hw/sw from the same manufacturererer.

also. i decided on getting the Elgato EyeTV Hybrid (sorry Ops)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815131003

frack.  like an hour ago this thing was $10 less than it is now.

Yeah, that's pricey.  Never used a Mac, do they not have built in media package for TV?  I am going to get a Pinnacle and just scrap the software as they will work with anything.  G'luck 'clams  :eyeseeyou:

what software are you going to use? you're going to end up paying for whatever it is- you need software that runs your dvr functionality and tuning crap.
check out www.sageTV.com  it is very leet, especially the placeshifter feature

The EyeTV hybrid is good.  The software that comes with it has gotten much better over the last few years.  I don't personally have one but know somebody that does and he loves it.

My current PC runs it perfectly (not elgato eyeTV garbage).  Built in controls for tuner/dvr/etc. Scrapped the ATI software when I got the tuner.  (sucks about the mac  :'( ).  Fatty, you would probably only get ABC/NBC/ABC/PBS in HD Clear QAM in manhattan through the cable but should get all the unscrambled digital stations.

sorry maybe its AppleTV, they call everything "i" sumpin' so I fig'd it was iTV.  Anyway, its a way to watch internet programs (episodes posted on 'net, downloaded or youtubed) on TV.  They hold 40-160 GB to store the programs.

There marketing ploy is for every1 to ditch sat/cable since about everthing can be watched online (or almost 'rything). You can just pay for what you want to watch instead of a monthly fee.

And srsly, my iMac has crashed (stalled and had to power off/on) three times due to "not responding" software.
