Top Four Teams in BCS standings, including at least one team from the weaker division if the top four are all in one division. All teams will play 12 games in 13 weeks. While this would eliminate the traditional Thanksgiving Weekend match-ups, it would allow for two play-off games on Thanksgiving weekend and the championship game the next week.
This would increase profits for Big 12, increase interest and make it the championship process fair and just.

Or the Big 12 North should just not be allowed to compete for the conference title

Screw that...More teams get into BCS games from the BIG XII the better...a lot more money for the conference. We should not be forced to have a playoff if the NCAA won't.

Who said it would be forced? I believe it is an opportunity for the Big 12 to give cf fans want they want, plus earn extra money. We would have post season games during Thanksgiving week. HUGE marketing potential, imo.

BIG 12 FOOTBALL TOURNEY!
Scrap the North v. South match-ups go to 5 conference games, seed the sucker to 12 and LET ER RIP! Single elimination with consolation bracket to ensure at least 7 conference games.
F YEAH!

This would be a ratings BO-NAN-ZA
even conso bracket would mean bowl cusp teams fighting it out.
FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN-TASTIC!

bad idea.
would just be another opportunity for this (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jzeg2nOnxkg) to happen.

I don't think that would work. Would they be able to get everyone enough games? and, what if a team lost the first round against a good team, then won out? Only lost 1 game all year and can't even with the Big XII? Very odd.
-
horrible idea. we've already been screwed by the conf champ game even existing (did everyone forget 1998?) meanwhile conferences like the big 10 and pac 10 don't have to take the risk of playing a conf champ game.
now you want to add another game, therefore adding more chance of a big xii team getting &@#%ed out of a bcs and/or nat title?
&@#% that.
