It doesn't look as if the Beas is going to reach his true potential in a Heat uniform. Unfortunately, Spoelstra is a jack*ss. How is he supposed to learn anything by riding the pine?
-
Having seen a few Heat games this season I'd say the first thing Mike needs to learn is how to play at full speed when he's on the court. If he can handle that there's a good chance he'll be amazing.
-
i havent watched him play much in the nba just look at boxscores and stuff. but i know riley (who is not coaching but is team president) wasnt big on him but had to take him in the draft. hopefully b-easy can get more minutes with the heat or some other team
-
Why did Riley have to take him? Of the 5 or so games I have seen, he has been taking way to many jumpers. He needs to drive to the basket more. He was an and one machine at KSU, but I haven't seen that at all in the league.
-
because of his talent level. if he would have passed on beasley and beasley ended up good or whoever he drafted didnt he would have been killed. actually predraft riley wanted oj mayo more. beasley isnt riley's type of player and before they picked him riley said b-easy had "character issues" basically riley thinks he is immature. so its not surprising beasley isnt getting tons of minutes. hopefully he can work out of the doghouse or go to another team that wants him to play
-
watched bit of the game. they don't need him. his d isn't that great. chalmers is playing great(great d too).
analyst said Beasley has the nba game.

It will be interesting to see what happens after this year. Will Marion resign, and more importantly will the heat get a viable center to go along with Beas.
-
Unfortunately, Spoelstra is a jack*ss.
Spoelstra goes out of his way to defend Beasley when the alleged "character issues" raise their ugly head. He seems fine with Mike, it's just that Mike plays like a rookie once in a while.
-
I agree with that AzCat, but you have to let him learn on the job. It is not like the Heat are going to win the title or anything.
-
Yeah but you don't want him learning that he can mope around, play at half-speed and still start. Wrong lesson there IMHO.
-
True that. That is when Spoelstra needs to get into his grill. If he is loafing, then he shouldn't be out there. It has to be real strange for beas, that he is not playing. I imagine it is very difficult being that he has been a star at all levels.
-
I've not seen him "loaf" but on rare occasions. He's being asked to do things that negate his strengths, they're coaching him to be a bit league minimum player. He's being completely mishandled, and the Miami media have indirectly said as much many times.
-
Just a hypothetical question, but what team do you think beas would best fit with? I was hoping before the draft that he would end up in OKC, but don't really think that would be a good fit.
-
A team with no offense that would simply unleash the beas.

"Loaf" may have been a bit strong but quite a bit of the time lately he looks like he's wearing concrete shoes compared to the other guys on the court. And his D is still pretty bad. I'm sure he'll improve but the way he's looked it's tough to argue that he should be out there every minute, or even most minutes.
