Title: uw search
Post by: fatty fat fat on November 28, 2008, 04:04:53 PM
good article

Quote
Gary Patterson reportedly told Scott Woodward he wasn't interested in leaving tcu. He thought UW wasn't the right fit for him. Todd Graham from Tulsa also was rumored to have turned down the opportunity to interview. Rumors were floating around that Jeff Tedford also turned down the opportunity. We haven't heard anything about Texas Tech's Mike Leach either, which means he probably isn't in it.

Why would anyone want to take the head coaching job at Washington right now?

Or were just too old & lazy to leave the Manhattan city limits to make the hire for our new head football coach. :shy:

I think that the '99 Holiday Bowl broke UW's program. Haven't been the same since.

Great location, but stadium is a craphole....
Needs lots of work....
Barnett or some Mizzou assistant is likely going to get the job....

Yep.  Total hell hole.  Impossible to recruit/win in Seattle/U-Dubb.

Can't imagine Pat Hill taking that job. Doesn't seem like a U-Dub kind of guy.

"I think that the '99 Holiday Bowl broke UW's program. Haven't been the same since."

UW went 11-1 the next year (2000) and won the Rose Bowl.  Neuheisel leaving a couple of years later really hurt...and that was a self-inflicted wound.  Unless the leadership of the school has changed since that time I can see top flight coaches wanting to stay away.  Still, they are a top 25 program all-time.

Hill to UW. Per ESPN.

About the best they could do.

Still an awful fit. Just can't see Hill sipping some wine off of a stern out in the middle of some random lake.

“The Name Game” at Football Rumor Mill focuses on active coaching searches around the country. The latest edition centers on the Washington Huskies…

The candidacy of Fresno State’s Pat Hill for the Washington coaching job may have taken a more serious turn Saturday. A Washington football source told The Times that Hill interviewed with UW officials on Saturday. The Fresno Bee reported on its Fresno State football blog that Hill boarded a flight to Seattle early Saturday morning, and his car was parked in the airport parking lot. The Bee cited two unidentified airport employees. Another source told The Times the Huskies are expected to interview Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly this week. Kelly led Cincinnati to a 10-2 record and the Big East championship this season

I knew that Rose Bowl victory would hurt them in the long run. . .
