Title: NU fans are great.
Post by: WildCatzPhreak on September 18, 2006, 09:00:27 PM
Their whole reasoning for why they would be great this year was based on one game - The Michigan game at the end of last year.

Now that they were anally raped by USC - After doing NOTHING but running the clock down the entire time to lighten the damage - One game means nothing and their season is just as good or better than before.

They can't make up their minds.  One game matters a lot!  Us beating Michigan means we're back and we're the best ever!  No wait, we lost to USC, it's only one game and USC is the best in the country!  This doesn't affect us at all..

NU as a team is improved and is making strides (credit their D here and I have them number 1 in the the north at present). Their coach is a different matter. I don't understand what he was trying to do offensively against USC from the reports I heard.

NU's corners are overrated.

I agree with Beijing Cat...NU is a talented team this year, but they are still a work in progress.  Callahan's playcalling on saturday night completely baffled me at times...they showed a very balanced WCO to start the season, then he completely abandoned it for the USC game.  It's fine to try to establish the run, but he stuck with it for WAY too long and it costed NU a lot of offensive yards at the very least and liikely some points.

NU's reasoning for optimism this year is not based entirely on "one game."  Although the Michigan game is considered a big stepping stone for the program, people were mainly excited because the WCO was finally starting to hit it's stride in the final 3 games of the year.

i still see nebraska as a team that will win 9-10 games this season.  they're clearly not among the true elite this season in terms of talent, but that doesn't mean that they can't achieve their goal of winning the north (which looks like a pretty good bet with the mizzou-NU game being in lincoln during homecoming this year).

Calahan just wanted to run out the clock and get the hell out of the Coliseum. He knew his team was going to lose, he just didn't want to get embarrassed by a fifty point loss.

If true, and I think of that as a "we're going to lose lets just not lose too badly" attitude, then that really doesn't fit the "Were Nebraska and were back" smack talk I read from the Huskers. It truly is a sad day for Huskers if they have fallen that far.

Play to win or ge the hell off the field.

It definitely seemed that way...says a lot about what he thinks of his players (which is pathetic if the case)...he's definitely under fire right now from many in nebraska over his gameplan.

Herbstreit had elaborated on it during the game.  Mushberger had replied in bewilderment to that statement about this was not the Nebraska of old.  Nebraska would go to win ball games.
