I can't imagine Samuels not starting by his junior year. If he and Hill are back-ups in 2010, then I would definitely say we would be serious national title contenders. Hell, that second team could probably go .500 in conference.

If we do get hill, which imo is a long shot, where is that scholarship coming from? And is anyone hearing some other info other than what the other site is reporting? What are our chances of landing him
-
If that team is to be, in reality, something that does contend, you better hope Anderson or Samuals pick it up or Judge is the real deal pretty quick. If they arnt better then Kelly your Front line wont be much. Kelly may have been 5stars but ask any UCONN fan about him. Guy has no drive and didnt make any progress in two years. Id put Judge starting and that list and be alot happier with it.

It looks like Herrera won't be around for 2009. Maybe we don't end up signing that juco kid in the spring after all. Merriewether could possibly be awarded an academic schollie. We could find a schollie for Hill if we had the opportunity to sign him. The coaches must have some idea what to do to make it happen, otherwise I don't know why they would continue recruiting him. As far as whether we really have a shot at him, your guess is as good as anybody's. He has a ton of really high quality programs after him. Pretty hard to tell who is actually in the running for him. Still pretty impressive to be mentioned with those other schools.

i come to this thread thinking we had good news, this is just obvious banter (we'll be good if we sign this player...)
post back when we have good news :banghead: :jerkoff:

Edit; Judge AND Anderson/Samuels :users:

You guys just won a NC with Kaun at center. You don't really need a dominant 5 in college basketball right now. College basketball is all about guard play right now. (See: Chalmers and RusRob.) I'm sure Kelly/Judge/Henriquez/Anderson will be more than adequate down low. (Anderson is probably better at this point in his career than Kaun was early in his sophomore year.) That "fantasy" KSU team for 2010 would be every bit as talented as any in the country. Of course, that certainly doesn't guarantee anything, but it'll get you invited to the prom. Still, I doubt we land Hill; but even without him the 2010 squad could make a nice run in March.

The sportswriters out that way were a bit more charitable saying that: he's a sure-fire NBA player if he decides to work hard enough to get there; he didn't fit well into the system at UConn; and he understands both that he's made mistakes and that KSU is his last chance. Given how hard Frank rides his players I have to believe that Kelly will be much improved from his UConn days if he's still around next year.

no need to be stupid about this. tons of teams would be more talented. hell, just in the big 12, ksu wouldn't be in the top 4 in talent.
-
Top 25 talent. Which would be really nice for us. If we sneak in a top 5 one-and-doner, then maybe we'll have something "elite", but I'd be happy with that roster anyway.

oh yeah. i'd be ecstatic w. the talent. just not stupid about pretending it is comparable to schools that roll 5 stars in and out every year.

yeah, it's really annoyng. like we are the only school recruiting or something.

It would definitely be top 4 in the league, though.

no. ut, ku are definately ahead. ou is v. likely ahead (have to assume capel will kick ass in replacing losses in the '10 class). after that it is much closer, but you can easily make the argument for either osu or baylor (or both) over ksu.

W/ hill, we are def. ahead of OSU and BU.

Hill is pretty legit, saw him play last year for Fairfax vs. Westchester at Loyola Marymount. Needs to work on his shot but is physical and would fit in perfect with KSU's philosophy of defense and rebounding. This would be a huge pickup :ksu: but I think he will stay at home and go to USC, don't know if UCLA is recruiting him, but he would be a great fit for that program as well.

you're wrong. looking at them a little more closely, i'd say probably bu>ksu>osu (could change depending on the class of 2010).
bu really is clearly in front of ksu or osu.

Pretty comparable. Really, kinda silly because '10 is barely underway, and the current rankings for '10 are nothing close to what they will look like in two years. Right now, we look better in 09 from a 'cruitn' standpoint with ranked clemente and Herrera and minus unranked Spradling & Mitchell.
