Title: So I had an All Access pass today...
Post by: Racquetball_Ninja on September 16, 2006, 03:58:13 PM
and had an opportunity to be on the sidelines.  This is what I took from the game:
1. Unfortunately I was spot on in my criticism of Meier's arm strength, its just not there.

2. Moreira is still a hot dog and all about himself, but boy was it fun to hear Ron Prince and the other coaches chew his ass.

3. Jordy Nelson's not 100% healthy.  On the overthrow (I know you're asking which one) by Meier near the endzone I watched Nelson run the route from start to finish and both of his cuts were tentative and at about 80%.  He looked that way the entire game, maybe that's why he's not getting more touches.

4. Josh Freeman is an absolute genetic freak.  I was 5 feet from him and my gosh that kids massive, unfortunately I witnessed his metal preparedness and kids its just not there.  Prince had the offense together and he was talking to them before they were to go back on the field, Freeman and another back-up were standing there listening - goofing - listening - goofing.  Finally it dawned on me where I had seen that before, they looked like little kids on the sideline of a bitty football game.  I still believe that he's going to be a great quarterback before its all said and done but its not going to be for a couple of years.

I wish JLynch.  To an extent I can understand his goofing but what I wish he would grasp is that he's one play/injury away from being THE guy.  Like I said, he's going to be great but he's going to have to mature before he'll be ready for the type of success that he's capable of.

he is a true freshmen. prince should stick him in for just a few plays against UofL.. he would probably pay a little bit more attention from then on out.. hopefully he just doesn't turn into some of our other qbs from the past that thought they were gods (mindset, not ability to play well). i.e. chad may, ell roberson, etc...

Jordy is definitely not healthy. He even looked to be limping at one point. You could tell he's really lost his burst with whatever is wrong with his leg. There was one play where he got a great block from Moreira and all he had to beat was his man. Normally he would've blown by the guy, but the defender got him quite easily for a short gain.

Freeman should wear a headset and never leave Franklin's side.

Excellent point on Jordy.  I yelled at him on what everyone else thought was a Meier overthrow, where he was looking around and running at like 70%.  I first thought for some reason he didn't run out the route, but the injury makes everything make alot more sense.

They were giving him an earfull after his dive into the endzone.  Yes its a stupid rule but its still a personal foul.  Moreira is, was, and has always been a hot dog and a selfish player, I will be happy to see him no longer associated with this program.

Mastrud isn't Moreira.

My bad, I thought maybe it was another nickname like "Juice".  By the way, the most undeserved nickname in K-State football history.

Prince went off. He chewed on Moreira coming off the field. He sought him out on the sideline and chewed on him again. Then he wheeled around again and chewed on tight end Jeron Mastrud, apparently just because his name also started with "Jer."

Mastrud had the penalty on the 2-point conversion attempt. Victim of bad timing, in more ways than one.
