Give it some time, they will. He already has scholarship offers from Marquette, Florida State & OSU. With interest from Texas & Baylor.

'10 recruiting is already full speed ahead!! :ksu:

Don't think they're the same guy.  The guy who signed with us would only be a junior, right?  He couldn't have already known he would need postgrad time.  Right?  Or am I confused?

!!!  A Brandon Bass All-stars commit!  1st Inaugural Manhattan Classic for the win!   :ksu:

A quote from back then:

I'd take anyone on the BBA team.  Those guys were talented.  Who's scholarship would he take?

I'm just as happy today.  Sure it would be nice to get a 4*, but as long as we don't get another Buchi, Abdul combo class after this year's nice one I'd say things are looking up.

Tony Mitchell is a nice start to the class. Huge upside imo. Played with Lat Will at the Manhattan Classic this last May and from what I remember he's a perfect mold for KSU- hits the boards hard, long and athletic, hard nosed, aggressive. I'll see if we can't pull video on him from the Classic and post it (of course it will be on GPC though, haha, sorry). Still, very good get for KSU.

Frank Martin being from the areas down there has really helped us down there. I seriously think we have probably one of the fastest growing recruiting coaches in the country. These guys know how to get it done.

High-major basketball recruiting done the right way.

Sign most of your kids (HS) in November.

Get recruits for the next class to commit early (day after signing day is very good).

Continue to establish recruiting ties. (Fig getting it done in TX, continue to build in NYC JAY-Z!)

Repeat.

Now let's see if we can keep it up.  And if we can figure out what the heck is going on with our scholarship situation, unless Frank won some weird appeal with the NCAA to allow us to have 15 kids on scholarship.

I think what's most encouraging is that our last two commits (real ones) have been from Texas kids w/ high major offers.

I agree w/ sys.  It's time to dump Underwood for someone sexier.  Someone w/ strong Chicago ties or something.

Hey P4P, were there any other clips showing his ballhandling or running the floor?  I realize that there is only so much to put up, and you guys probably weren't too focused on him at the time, but in the four clips they showed, he only made one power dribble.  At 6'8", rebounds and putbacks are a given.  The three point shot was ok, but his coach claims he's a guard...curious if there is any vid evidence to support this.

Thanks!

That's why I was hoping there was some more footage on Mitchell.

Spradling using deceleration well.  He's not lighting quick, but he destroys quicker players with hesitation moves.  That's Traynham he makes look silly in one of those clips, who is extremely quick and lower to the ground. (Traynham's probably not the best defender fundamentally, but who in highschool is?) Also, Spradling has fantastic handles going either way.  Great vision and shooting.

Video would have been taken a few months before the start of his soph. year?  Looked like a decent-good athlete for a 15-16(maybe) yr old kid.  6'5, 6'6 in that video???  Possibly grown a little since.

After watching, agree on his atheleticism.  Moderate at best.  Does handle the ball very well for his size and seems to be able to shoot.  Release point is a little low, but gets it off quickly.  Nice midrange game.

Was hoping for something like Witherspoon, but I'm not seeing it based on those clips.  Of course, I may not have seen it in Witherspoon himself as a soph.  I'm sure who I would compare him to in terms of former KSU players.  Some sort of mix between Aakeem Wright and Cartier Martin.
