Title: There's smoke everywhere!
Post by: WildCatzPhreak on November 12, 2008, 05:30:35 PM
This is easily the funniest coaching 'search' ever.

Obvious smoke on the Patterson front with leaks from Patterson's side and KSU's side.  Then conflicting reports. Cover up or actually wrong?

Now Jannsen saying the job has been offered to Snyder.

Then there was Kietz, who was positive just a week ago that the Tenn Titans DC was the target.

And Rivals saying we're after Venables.

Very entertaining imo.  The funniest thing of all will be when none of the above become the new coach.

Rivals said we were after Venables??  Did they think Krause's comments about head coaching experience were just a smokescreen?  Did they think we canned Prince immediately because we wanted to jump in the game for the OU asst?  I just don't see that happening...not saying I would be against it...just don't see that happening.

JMart says its Snyder or Patterson, and that's the way it looks.

Jannsen works for the Manhattan Mercury, a Newspaper.

Can someone post a link to the Manhattan Mercury's website?

TIA.

What in the hell makes you think he hasn't?  Didn't Jansen write a book with/about Snyder?  He prolly knows every crevice of his old withered ballz.  If he's saying they offered him the f^cking job they prolly offered him the f^cking job.

Jansen is just trying to help out by being the company man and is doing his best to make it look like we are looking elsewhere and haven't already given it to GP. Good for him. I personally wish he'd knock this crap off though and give the public a good Travis and Kelly update.

God I hope so.  How big of a saint is Jansen if he is covering up Fitz's mess to try to preserve a deal that Tim Fitzgerald did everything in his power to destroy

Rivals did the same thing with the Dienhart piece. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=874698

I counted 'em up and Dienhart lists 14 coaches that we might be looking at. Hilarious. Also trying to hard imo.
Eric Woolford the new coach of the qatz.

I'm taking the wait and see approach. Like I said I've heard they had a top 3 list and think they have all been mentioned here. I know that some of the big donors are insisting of BS having a say. And believe it or not he is very high on BV and still talks to him regularly. And sure he is high on Bill's list. The problem I understand with Bill taking the job and then it being turned over to an assistant in a determined time is that with a change of president and a possible new AD they may have different opinions on what to do. And understand that will be covered if it comes down to that option. Right now after last week I think BK is letting all the options be know and very few really know what the first choice is. I feel it was GP before last Friday. And not sure if his interest is still there. If that fails I think  a BS and BV scenario is very likely. Feel they will interview more than TW did though. The other concern I have about hiring Bill is there maybe some of his last staff out of a job shortly and Bill is loyal to a fault. I could see him rehiring them. And I would melt down. From that standpoint I hope we hire a possible long term coach and don't have to worry about that. JMO

Don't know too many media types that will be wrong on purpose for the sake of somebody else.  Kind of odd if you ask me.  Either way, the damage has already been done.  Some fake dog and pony show ain't gonna help.  Gary already knows that if he takes the job he's severely misled the parents of all our players and recruits and alienated an entire fan base by the way it went down.  Faking like it really didn't happen until our season was over isn't going to fool anybody.  He either cares (won't take the job) or he doesn't (will take the job).  I'm guessing he already knows the answer.  We're just going to have to wait for another 10 days (at least) to find out.  Kind of funny how badly he's torturing both sides right now if you think about it.

Snyder should say the only way he comes back is as BV's OC.  If he really loves BV.

Most "media types" don't spend 30ish years in a "college town" as nothing more than "sports editor" either...  Janssen is nothing if he's not a company man.

Not saying that what Daris posted is absolute gospel, but I could see Janssen doing such a thing if asked.  He probably thinks that Fitz is a douchetard also, and wants to be the hero in the end, imho.

If it were Snyder from ten years ago I'd be concerned.

I'm not sure why so many of you think bringing that old bag of bones back is a good idea. Praying for a second miracle I guess.

I just think that 3rd choice is Fran and that scares the hell out of me. Snyder, with the right coordinators, can win again off his reputation alone. Coordinators would love to work for the man because of the success of his previous coordinators.

No worries though...GP is coming.

Where the &@#% have you been?  No one thinks it's a "good idea."  It's simply better than some other unsavory alternatives.  GP is still numero uno.

Snyder with young, motivated capable assistants would be quite good in the near term.  But, no one has much confidence that this will materialize.  Prolly just wrinkled old balls and mouth breathers like Joe Bob.

What about Snyder as GP's OC?  I sure as hell don't want GP bringing his OC from tcu with him.  Snyder can help out for a few years, giving us time to get better/ more attractive to another OC.  Cetainly not as sexy as a BV/LHCS duo, but probably more likely, and could be pretty damn effective.

For those that heard it, did Janssen say any more than that it was OFFERED to Snyder?  Any chance Snyder realizes he's not up for another re-build, and he turned it down?
