Now there are thousands of EMAWs that would gladly give an appendage to see the man walk our sidelines.
Are we the victims of some kind of reverse psychology, false sense of urgency, artificial demand marketing ploy by the AD? You know, sort of like Nintendo did with the Wii?

Wii sucks mega-balls. Worst $300+ I've ever spent. Can't wait until my kid is six so someone can enjoy it.
Naw, can't be that. I think GP would really be awesome.

It's a little more obvious after we've been the proud owner of an Atari 2600 for the last 2.8333 years.

Almost makes me want to go back to playing PS2. Good old reliable PS2.

This probably was a factor in the choice of coaches we had last time around. The chances that the coach who followed Snyder was going to be successful were always pretty slim. Successful, established coaches who might otherwise consider the job didn't want to take the risk of following Snyder. They were willing to wait 3-4 years until our fanbase's ridiculous expectations were tempered by the likely failure of an inexperienced hire.
That necessarily left us with either an inexperienced hire or an experienced, less-successful hire. Of course, this necessarily diminished the chances that the hire would be successful. It really became a self-fulfilling situation, barring another Snyder-esque hire.
We should be glad it only took 3 years for this all to play out.

tcu has improved even more since '05...also, we REALLY REALLY thought Leavitt was considering coming home...and we had yet to hear of a guy named Ron Prince.
let me ask you this...if we really thought hiring Ron PRince was going to become a reality.....would that have helped created interest in hiring Patterson? Hell &@#%ing yes.

I heard from an inside source that the Leavitt hire was a done deal with him until his wife decided she absolutely didn't want to live in Kansas. So he didn't want to break up his marriage over it. Don't know that for a fact, but I believe it.

It was a major factor and through a friend of a friend (take it fwiw)...His family didn't want to move either. Grade school and middle school children to uproot.
Factor in USF bidding us dollar for dollar because we're so fracking cheap it makes me sick...and the idea was over before he interviewed.
Patterson was interested...and we hired the Three Ring Binder before GP had a legit shot to state his case. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I (fan) really wanted Patterson 3 years ago. Leavitt and Patterson were my top two by far in 2005.

Sounds prophetic! Have you seen the stories regarding GP's wife's heritage? BTW, I feel like I have been donkey kicked in the nuts. This is taking too long. I would rather him go to KSU at this point if he isn't going to say something definitive. We will be fine without him. Would hate to see him go but enough is enough.

I have a hard time buying into the whole "Leavett's wife didnt want to live in KS thing" if we had thrown 2.5 M at old Jim, I can see the following happen:
Leavett: Hey honey, KSU wants to hire me as HC
Mrs Leavett: NO FITZING WAY ARE YOU GOING TO UPROOT THIS FAMILY AND MOVE TO THAT HELL-HOLE WHERE IT'S COLDER THAN A WELL-DIGGER'S ASS...
Leavett: 2.5M
Mrs Leavett: Oh, I have heard that Manhattan is lovely this time of year, do you think we can still get little Jimmy private tuba lessons.
We were on the cheap and THAT is why we lost Leavett - if they dont learn this lesson, then we deserve to get the HC from NW Delaware St Tech who has soooo much upside.

W/ ps3 or a 360 so close to being within our grasp I'm not sure if I can openly accept ps2 again. Even if I have a lot of respect for my ps2 and and loved it for a long time...

We threw a crapload of money at JL.

From what I remember of that search, it was all Leavitt's to decide, with the fans other choice, Venables, given no consideration. At that time, I believe Patterson was considered the #3 choice to most fans, as I recall. Leavitt then snubbed us despite, no doubt, excessive pleading from all on the KSU team (Wefald and Weiser). Apparently Venables was never in the mix for some rumors (I still don't know the nature of the rumors so someone please advise!). I would guess Venables suffers from something he did to major boosters which, apparently, will keep him from getting a sniff again this time.
So, after the Leavitt snub, the KSU team unexpectedly took a quick jaunt to Virginia on the way back to Manhattan after the Leavitt snub, became enamored and we had our man with the plan! The fans never even got a sniff of that one because Prince came from so far out in left field that is might as well have been Rusty they chose. Patterson was left out in the cold, as were several others with KSU ties that probably should've at least gotten an interview.
Since that time, Leavitt seems even more entrenched at USF and Patterson has continued to improve his resume and show himself to be a quality coach. So, he is the choice of fans now...and of course, we all fear the unknown based on what transpired last time.

Yeah, fracking spineless p ussy who gets bossed around by his wife seem like strong qualities for you head football coach.
