Why, exactly, would he want to leave?

I think he will leave ... but I do think he will be at KSU for at least 5 years.

If things go particularly well ... then he may not leave at all.

JCCC-L fans are  .... concerned.

Nope.  I don't know if he landed a top 10 recruit outside of Paul Pierce and David Padgett.

STFU.

and dax, how often do 60 year old coaches jump ship for a better job?  (ROY DOESN'T COUNT BECAUSE HE WENT TO THE SECOND BEST PROGRAM IN THE COUNTRY)

Yeah, Bob Huggins has no Dean Smith or other serious tie to West Virginia.  So those circumstances are way different.

The only reasons he would leave IMO:

Trouble with the NCAA
For some inexplicable reason he doesn't/can't win in Manhattan
He wants a new challenge/NBA makes an offer he can't refuse

This is Bob's last job in coaching.  Cincinnati would have been but he was forced out.  KSU fans need not worry about that.  He has all the money he will ever need, and just wants to build a legacy.  What better place to do it?

If the fans and administration at KSU continue to support Huggins I'd be very surprised if he were to leave for another college gig.  Couldn't blame him if he decided to take a shot at the NBA though.

huggins sounds very appreciative of being given the opportunity of coaching at ksu.

Well, I think he'll leave, but not before 5 years minimum.

But leave, may actually mean retirement.

I only think Huggins leaves if he is tremendously successful by year 2 and takes a job in an area that has local b-ball talent (say USC). If he takes 4 or 5 years to really turnaround the program then he will be too old to make another switch IMHO.

Why would he need to go to an area that has local talent? He already recruits on the national scene.

Huggy may decide that Manhattan isn't metropolitan enough for him. After all, Manhattan is no NYC, LA, Wichita, etc.

Wichita was named to the top 10 most metropolitan cities in the country by two different rating services last year.  We have a river, I think a museum or something, RiverFest, and the Warren theaters. Eat your heart out Manhattan!

o yeah, manhattan has tuttle creek, kansas river and quite a few others, riley county history museum or something, some other museums that i've never actually been to, country stampede and seth childs cinemas. Hat-town > Wichita.

Tuttle CREEK. Exactly my point. Manhattan is small time and it doesn't compare to Wichita. Seth Child's cinema's? Never heard of it. The Warren Theaters are the best in the universe.

 :notworthy: Warren Theaters

:beerchug:      = what I do at the Warren. Yes, you can buy beer in the theater.

didn't huggs say something about having his school in a big city being more of a problem than a help?  too many distractions?  i think he's more interested in being the big fish in the little pond than the 10th biggest attraction in a given city.

either way after whatever success we have this season or next ksu needs to go ahead and draw up the lifetime contract with a gaurantee that he'll always be one of the 10 highest paid coaches.  theres no reason not to, he's already making the university way more $$ than we could pay him.

and if huggs wants to retire the day after we win a national title i'm fine with that...even if its after next year.

What a bunch of crap! I've lived in both. I loved Manhattan when I lived there. Obviously you haven't. Location,Location,Location! Yes, the city centers around the college.Manhattan is in a scenic setting unlike Wichita. Wichita is in the poorest part of town instead of the best. Manhattan has close prox. to KC. I could go on but I won't . Not small by any means. What a REDICKOLESS POST

Depends on what Huggins does. If he stays in Manhattan then KSU will be better, if not Illinois will be

Quote
Once the hype around KSU and Huggins fades, (probably the end of this year), it will be tough for KSU to compete in the big 12.

Quote
I think Huggins will be a solid program sooner than later just to use it to bolt to a more major program. K-State is not his final coaching spot by any means. K-State is being used to launder Huggy so he can get a big time job.

Quote
By that time Thuggins might well be the head coach of the Illini... although it may take the illini faithful longer than that to come to their senses and discover that BW can't recruit the instate blue chippers.

Quote:Where do you all get the Huggins won't be hear after 3 years?

Ever been to Manhattan?

Quote
In three years KSU will be on probation and Huggins will be coaching at a JUCO in Texas.

K-State may have 3-4 good years and Huggins will leave for greener pastures.
