I personally loved DFW. All of the trams, escalators, etc. Also, very nice restaurants. TGIF, etc.

fatty, what is your favorite airport activity? Mine is walking around (sometimes even between terminals) looking for the best eatery. Second best would be adventuring to find an outlet.

sure i've seen your sig, pal, and sorry about the n00b comment, but just because you've not visited a particular airport doesn't mean you can't research it online, etc

OHHHHHHHH, good one. You can always find random city papers too that came from said random city.
-
how long can you make the stay? if you can extend to 6+, then go o'hare. you can scamper into the city easy and cheap. otherwise dfw.

I walk the entire airport. I love the "sea of anonymity" in an airport.

i walk the terminals as well, only prob i have is that I walk past the same people several times as they're waiting on their planes or whatever and feel dumb

you can act like you "don't know where you're going"

ya but then i look like a n00b traveler who doesn't know what i'm doing. would prefer to act like i'm a world traveler who travels all the time and knows all the ins and outs...

Another question: Which line do you guys get in? Professional Traveler line, Medium line or n00b line at the security checkpoint? :dunno: I go professional but really sweat it like I'm gonna screw it up. Good feeling getting through and not causing a traffic jam though.

those lines are only @ the "biggie" airports.

Where are you going this trip? Got a shot at one on your return? Idea: Go for the expert line and then 8-) after you get through

Just to play devil's advocate, I've flown from Austin to DFW multiple times to connect to somewhere else. The wait time taxiing on the runway was practically as long as the flight itself each time, and it's not because we were waiting for anyone else to let us through.

It's a huge airport, so i'm not surprised. how is austin's airport? must be nice to have an inty airport in your college's backyard. sheesh ut.

Both. Their runways are just freaking massive. Until Austin got airlines like JetBlue, it usually made a lot of sense to fly out of Dallas or Houston if you didn't wanna pay out of the arse to go somewhere besides the major hubs. Austin's airport is really nice, they just made it within the last 10 years or so. The last airport was a cramped abortion of a structure. It's got about 35 gates or so.

great post yardstick. thanks.
ever been to lubbock's airport?

Actually, yes. Nothing distinguishes it from a typical regional airport, you pretty much have to go to Dallas if you wanna get anywhere besides like...Midland or El Paso. It's nothing special.
