people who sell large TV's should advertise that it's "3 Mangino's wide" and about "2 Mangino's high."

does your tv have 1080p resolution?  there really isn't any comparison to an upconverted DVD and 1080p, or 1080i for that matter tbh imo.  if your tv doesn't do 1080p then don't worry about it but if it does, it's something to consider - eps considering how much prices on the machines have come down...saw them going for $225 recently.

Yeah d00d, no HDMI or 1080p for you.  You will have to hook stuff up with component.  s-video doesn't do HD.

It's the three wires (black, blue, green I think) usually connected to two (red, blue) audio wires.  It will put it through at 1080i for you.  Will look good.

yup that's component cables.  they come through at 1080i.  i wouldn't mess with monster unless you've already purchased them, kinda a rip off.  1080i should look really clear/good like sd said.

I mean they look cool and all but arent all cables basically the same thing? About five years ago Monster was way ahead when it came to results but now you just pay for the name on the box.

You can get great cables from monoprice.com at a fraction of the cost of Monster. If you can't wait for them to get to you then you can go to Wal-mart and get a 6ft. HDMI for around $30. The Wal-mart cable is Phillips brand and has great picture quality

A suggestion.
are you good with a soldering iron?
Make your own.
Go to most hardware stores and you can get any size cable you want, buy the ends and away you go.
REALLY. And its about 1/2 the price.

you too pcmiller.(see early thread..no HDMI hookup on TV)  component cables it is. i thought they were the same.

word.  if you plan on getting HD channels from Time Warner or whoever is your cable/dish provider, you'll def want to use the component cables to hook that up too, otherwise you won't be watching HD but you will be paying for it.

Analog cables are not created equal, but Monoprice.com is def. the best bet.  Monster cables are a complete rip off.

Digital cables, it doesn't matter what you get - either the signal gets there or it does not.

OK.  I thought that, if the 2 audio are combined with the three video, the video are black, green, blue because the audio are red and yellow.  Probably hallucinated that  :dunno:
