Good decision making. Didn't have those terrible throws in obvious double coverage.

His are just seems weak though. Maybe someone elsee saw it different.

And for &@#% sake. Change your avatar. Freeman was a TOTAL disaster

No.  A Marshall win and it will change.

Fair enough. 3-0 would be awesome considering how pathetic last week was.

Did he have more time to throw?  His stats weren't any better.  At all.  The lack of a run game shouldn't be an excuse any more.

Our offense just isn't going to be very good this year. We need to realize that, and hopefully get around that.

Freeman was bad. Beyond terrible.

How did Freeman compare to your boy AE?

Don't know. But I hope Dylan stays for a sixth year.

No, you want a 5-star JUCO.

Freeman's first throw travelled about 3 yards before hitting the turf.

Meier didn't look amazing, and he didn't look bad either. He was just being Dylan Meier out there. Had a few nice scrambles actually, because Prince read the board and took my suggestion to roll him out.

Freeman was set-up to fail last night.  He comes in behind a second-string O-Line (the starters are bad enough), 2nd-4th string receivers and backs, and the crowd chanting his name.  He really didn't have a chance to live up to expectations.

Exactly and you could clearly tell he was nervous.  The next time he plays he will be much, much better.

Meier's arm strength is inconsistent and he just flat out sucks throwing deep.

Missed Yamon on a 40 yard TD throw that was open by 3 steps.

Having Freeman look like sh1t is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.  Don't let a QB controversey develop.  Make the fans look like idiots for calling for Freeman, let Freeman know he hasn't done sh1t yet and has to earn his way onto the field, and earn the trust of Prince, the team and the fans.

The QB constroversy is why Prince ran off the best QBs before the season started.  No way to make that one go away, particularly when Meier sucks and Freemans sucks even more.

The QB constroversy is why Prince ran off the best QBs before the season started.  No way to make that one go away, particularly when Meier sucks and Freemans sucks even more.

I remember correctly, Roberson came into the LaTech game in 2000 after Beasley had pretty much won that game, and people were cheering hollering.  I even heard of people saying it was ABOUT TIME!!

Then Roberson proceeded to do a QB draw and got tackled for loss, then incomplete, then 2 yard gain ... then punt.   Roberson was never brought back in again, or when he was, it was obvious the game was won.  TV analysts during the Big 12 CC game had stated that Roberson was coming back, and thought he'd be as good as Bishop.. and for not even really playing that much.

Three years later, Roberson is the best damn QB KSU ever had under Snyder and maybe even KSU history.   Of course, Beasley did wonders in the 2000 season and KSU should have gone to a BCS bowl, having played OU twice and closer than any other Big 12 team.   Watching KSU dismantle Tennessee in one of Beasley's finest performances after having to endure pre-season and OOC criticism was kinda of the icing on the cake for his career.   Meier is facing the same kinds of questions, and criticism, although Meier certainly hasn't lived up to being a Beasley, he probably could be one, and only two games into the season doesn't really show where he can go.

Watching the conversation in this thread is amazing.  Freeman was being touted by so many people as being better than Meier, and they are correct, only, Freeman had a bad start, which is not without precedence anywhere in the history of KSU football, or football for that matter.   Watching Titan's fans screaming for VY then only to discover he ain't as good in the NFL as he was in college, reality sets in when the pundits say he's got a lot to learn.   Players of Freeman's caliber, in fact every player has bad games, and usually, they happen when they get their first start on the field.

Freeman is a beast, and has incredible talent, but there is no way you can say Freeman is worse than Meier when you consider that history repeats itself.  I see that Meier will become much better, but will soon be forgotten when he is eventually passed by Freeman.

Don't get your panties in all in a wad rodent.  Freeman will be fine but right now he's not as "good" as Meier which is a sad statement on the status of the QB position at KSU at the moment.

This is excellent analysis but missing one key aspect of all this.  The lowering of expectations and the humbling of the QB was a necessary process and defused alot of the pressure/insanity.  People were still whining about Snyder not giving Marc Dunn "a fair shake" after Roberson saved his ass in the USC game 2002.  Prince has actually made his first brilliant move by ensuring that Freeman fails and letting everyone know who the clear number one is, getting Freeman some extremely limited experience (here is what taking a snap looks like in front of an actual defense in BSFS etc.)

Freeman's 0-4 1INT appearance with the #2 O-line was actually one of the biggest positives thus far out of this coaching staff for me.

So you think that since Roberson played like crap his first few times, and Freeman did as well, that Freeman is 100% destined to be the best quarterback Ksu has ever seen?

That's not what I said, but you certainly can draw that inference from that based on close the lines of development that are between both players.

Also, I wouldn't want Freeman to play at all if we had a backup QB for Meier.  Prince totally f'ed that one up.

QB play isn't the only thing that carries the team.   Would I want to have a better QB?  Sure, but Meier is good enough in this offense to get it moving.  As the line improves, so will his play.   A lot of good QB's can play but if he doesn't have a great supporting cast, you can't expect him to just win games by himself.

Y'know it's funny, we've had several QBs who did just that and if memory serves they spent quite a bit of time running for their lives.  There were whole years where I wondered if pass blocking was one of those things on page 900 of Snyder's playbook that they didn't get around to practicing more than once or twice a season.  I'm not so sure that the pass blocking (run blocking is a different story) isn't as good as normal, we just have a QB who exposes what normal has been around here.

"Meier certainly hasn't lived up to being a Beasley, he probably could be one, and only two games into the season doesn't really show where he can go."

Meier isn't Beasley.  He's more Brian Kavanaugh.  If you get things stabilized around him he's not going to lose ballgames for K-State.

You're trying to apply two different systems here.  By design, Snyder had created an offense around a mobile QB and recruited that kind of QB for the system.  Since Bishop came along, pass blocking was not so much about keeping them away from the QB so much as it was to force them out and open up running lanes, and in some cases, that was by design.   Sure, there were sacks and other instances where the QB got nailed after he threw the ball.   That kind of breakdown isn't exactly something that was exclusive to KSU at all.  KSU took advantage of that possibility on more than one occassion, with Snyder using the slip screen (aka Jailbreak screen) when the defense set up for an all out blitz, or checking to a short option or some other design play where the blockers would just push people enough to open lanes for running.

It's about knowing how to react to a defense, and understanding what your options are.
