This is kind of like saying, "D00d, it seems like every time I look at my alarm clock, it says 9:11. WTF?" It's not that your alarm clock says 9:11 all the time. It's that you're fracking stupid. When a black coach fails, you (apparently) write it down in the captain's log and savor the significance. When a tubby good ol' boy from Texas fails to lead a BCS team to prominence, you're probably not saying, "Damn, those tubby good ol' boys just cain't hack it." Just like your heart not beating faster when your alarm clock says 6:43.

Not racist at all, just seems like there hasn't been a successful one in college football yet. I know there aren't nearly as many opportunities but you'd think one would break through at some point.

I didn't mean to accuse you of being racist, though...you know, looking at my post again...I'd probably interpret it that way myself. So, uh, sorry about that. I was just sort of being a jackass for the sake of being a jackass (it's been known to happen). As of October 26, 2007, there had been only 22 black head coaches in the history of "major" college football (link (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/the_bonus/10/17/black.coaches/index.html)). If you were to randomly select 22 white head football coaches from the annals of CFB (not from a list of dudes coaching at any one time since that would skew things, I guess, but from a list of all former/present coaches) and scrutinize their coaching careers, you probably wouldn't be very impressed with their resumes.

Have you ever seen a black (american) slave owner? impossible imo

Also hard to ignore the NFL courting the top black coaching talent. Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy leading their teams to the 2007 Super Bowl comes to mind.

Because there is a smaller percentage of blacks than white in America, I think that you should look at the percantage of successful coaches from both races, rather than total numbers. (Instead of your argument, you could have just as easily pointed out the hundreds or thousands of successful white coaches versus the zero successful black coaches.) The fact is: zero percent of black head coaches have had even moderate long term success, whereas the percentage of white coaches realizing success is certainly higher. Nobody is trying to say that black coaches can't succeed, we're simply asking why they haven't to this point.
