Title: For any resident Powertards . . .
Post by: sonofdaxjones on October 27, 2008, 10:03:24 AM
what are PPM (Powertard Propaganda Ministry) types like RockyMtnCat saying over on the Wabash??

We all know that guy witnessed first hand some really crappy football when he was a back up fullback or something during the Halcyon Days of Ellis Rainsberger

Stoops did not take his foot off the gas due to the BCS and wanting to score lots of points, we stopped them.
Defense was improved in 2nd half
We are going to beat ku

Did we step off the gas in the 2nd half, too?  If so, smart move kinda like running the ball vs Tek in the 2nd half to kill the clock to prevent a game/score like ukjr had.

I agree, we tried to run the ball in the 2nd half . . . nothing like playing ball control to avoid absolute embarrassment.

I honestly don't think that we would ever get a stop against that OU offense if they don't let up.  Not ever.  Huge, huge mismatch.  I bet our defense is worse than Tibs' defenses at North Dakota State or wherever he was.
Title: One Very disturbing thing

One guy posted that he has heard Prince will get at least one more year regardless of what happens the rest of the season.   (I don't believe the poster was a Prince supporter.)

Other than that vehement arguments that Stoops did not call off the dogs and our defense was stellar in the second half.

Does anyone have any information that they are CONSIDERING making a change at the end of the year?  I can't take another year of RP.  Can you imagine with the way recruitng is going this year how bad its going to get?  Is RP even recruiting?

MJROD needs to give us some news.  He said last week there were some things going on that he couldn't talk about, but would at a later date.   Give me some hope MJ!

Here's a gem...

There are so many people on here that are so opioninated about football and are so stupid about it that it is unbelievable. I can hardly read this board and take it seriously any more. My wife knows more about football than most of the people on this board. I am serious about that!
My god, if your not that knowledgable about football why do you make the posts that you do. Really, Why? It is so unbelievable. I almost can't even read this anymore. Do you realize that you are just showing your stupidity about football. I am not kidding you really are! Why all the post if you aren't even that educated about football. Really I mean it!!!!
Fire Prince !!! Are you Kidding!! My god! Who are going to get! Patterson - he has no interest in this job given his current digs. He makes more than Prince does and has half the pressure. Really if you do not really know about college football quite posting all the negative s$it on here. It is getting old to read an you are making yourselves look ignorant.

Yeah.  I think it could all go down like this:

Quote
Krause: [as Freemaw walks in on the town meeting that determines Coach Prince's fate] What can I do for you, Josh?
Freemaw: I got something to say.
Krause: All right, say what you've gotta say.
Freemaw: [to crowd] I don't know if it'll make a difference, but I figured it's time for me to stay at K-State and play another year of ball.
ksufans.com poster: [as crowd is cheering, points to Prince] I told you, once we got rid of him!
Freemaw: But, there's just one thing... I play, Coach stays. He goes, I go.
ksufans.com poster: [crowd starts murmuring] Uhhh, the coach is dismissed by a vote of 48 to 25...
gopowercat.com poster: I think we should vote again!
Krause: All those in favor of the coach staying, say 'Aye' [majority of crowd says 'Aye']
Krause: , all opposed... [a handful say 'nay', tears up ksufans.com's tally sheet]
Krause: ... Coach stays!

They keep making the argument that we need 5-6 years to rebuild. I'd argue that that is true, but considering our revolving door of assistants/coordinators and recruiting getting worse and worse, that 5 or 6 years easily turns into 9 or 10 years.

In Fat Asses's 3rd year at ku, they went 4-7, but they only got blown out in 1 game, that was OU.

In Pinkel's 3rd year at mu, they went 8-5, and only kind of got blown out by ku and ou.

for some reason, as each game goes by, I'm more and more convinced that they will give Ron another year.  the irony is that it's not ksu's play, but the play of every other team in the north, but specifically ku and mu, that makes me think that Kaptain Krause will give him another year.  further irony is the fact that kaptain krause said at the beginning of the year (or whenever the hell he got hired) that we shouldn't judge ourselves based on what others do.  if ku and mu are the "model", then we're f'd.

I think he'll get an extra year anyway. The "give him enough time" argument. I'm just not sure how we'll recover from another year of Princecruiting.

yes. confirmed.

I want a ku victory....but if we lose horribly....that is a victory too. The worst case scenario for us is to lose a nail biter imho.

If MU does to us what they did to Colorado....how could you possibly keep him?

His recruiting is the only reason I think we need to look elsewhere.

It's just plain awful, no excuses, just terrible.

If we go out and hire some head coach with great schemes, but no recruiting skillz, you can bury KSU football.

Yep.  If he was playing young, promising players and getting killed, I'd be patient-er.

i'm starting to have little faith that this admin will be able to do the following:

(1) fire a coach after 3 years, then
(2) not wait 2 weeks like idiots, then
(3) more than likely outbid and outsell KSU football to gary patterson (or tubberville or whomever is actually good at coaching/recruiting in major D1 football) amongst the other schools that will be after him/them.

...that's a lot of variables to have to happen right and the Huggins analogy falls short in that no one else wanted him.  MU couldn't touch Huggins or he would have gone there.

Don't dispute that.  Just saying it could be the game we win (even win big) that no one expects.  And if it happens there will be a big turning back to the RP side from our fanbase.   Maybe not here, but it will happen.

Surely the average fan isn't dumb enough to flock back to RP if we beat ku. We shouldn't be giving up 55 points in one half to the San Diego Chargers, and definitely not to the schooners. If our fan base is retardy enough to jump back on the Prince wagon we deserve to suffer through another year of suck.

I don't know.  And don't take this place or GP or anywhere else as a measure of "average fans".  I really think beating ku would re-warm many to Prince and  would definately be more than enough to get him another season.  Plenty of our "average fans" saw "being competitive" last week vs OU as a step forward.

Won't happen if we lose 70 - 24 to both MU and NU.  That ku victory will be overshawdowed by massive ass kickings.  Best case senario, IMO.

A win over ku + a bowl, and he probably deserves another year, in all honesty.

I'd agree if I didn't spend time looking at thishttp://kansasstate.rivals.com/commitlist.asp (http://kansasstate.rivals.com/commitlist.asp)

I could deal with a 5-7 record if we were at least making some inroads on the recruiting front. Instead we're treading water with recruiting getting worse. That indicates a drowning in the future. I don't want to drown.

You are missing out on some wonderful old-timey whoo-rah from Oldefella.  Makes we want to buy some war bonds.

Seriously, I am quitting that &@#%ing site.  Who do you have to blow to get decent basketball coverage?  And, if I never read another d_scott douche bag human interest story, I'll be a happy man.

After this year, I'm pretty sure the North is going to be a collection of pillow fights every saturday for the foreseeable future.  sure, it might get one team that jumps up into the top 25 (but not top 20).   this is the perfect time to get a coach worth a sh*t and we're going to f*ck around with Ron for another year (and then he will leave after '09).  The recruiting has not changed under Ron from Snyder's terrible recruiting towards the end....Ron's offerred a scholarship to a JUCO student, not scholarship athlete, but student.  The current roster and 2 deep and it's graduation this year and next year will leave this program crippled.  The average star rating of JR's and Sr's is more than the average star rating of the So's and Fr's.

Pretty good post, IMO.

The Paterno analogy makes a lot of sense when you think about it.......

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

it takes 5 to six years to rebuild

i totally get sick of people griping about our coach we will get better.look at paterno you people would have fired him two years ago now look they should go unbeaten .football takes awhile to get chemistry! look at nebraska 10 players are playing in the nfl off of the team that got beat by texas tech 70- 14 the reason they lost was chemistry. we are k-state ron has recruited the best players that want come here. look at our graduation record top of the conference.arrests are down we need to back are players and coach. people have to remember coaches dont throw interceptions are fumble or jump off-side as fans yu have to believe . or go into coaching and see how it is, we should be ashamed of ourselves for starting a website to hire patterson that is sad. maybe if he set up a website to show kids how we back are players and coach that what coach snyder would want look at mike stoops almost got ran out of arizona but now he is winning. be patient and back are team i still believe.

I read that JoePa analogy and it made me sick.  KSU doesn't have JoePa, we have Ron Prince.  even in their worst years they can recruit top talent, KSU can't.  some of those folks over there are fracking more idiotic than i thought.

Pretty sh*tty post.  It doesn't necessarily take five years to rebuild.  And just how does he know that Paterno's turnaround didn't only take one or two years.  Is it five years just because he says so?

You can also &@#% it all pretty quickly.  Look at Rutgers.  Built that &@#%er over night and then it went to crap.

This one is quality:

I'm convinced Prince will be fine if he can find some......

solid asst. coaches like LSnyder had when he came in: B. Stoops, M. Stoops, J. Levitt, etc. RP is good as any other head coach; he just needs the input and help from quality def and off coordinators.

Only wish Wefald and Krause would lay out the cash for top-notch asst. football coaches. Then we will be back on track.

I'm starting to agree with zacker, though.  I've gone back and forth, but I really do believe now he's back regardless next season, no matter what happens at this point.

IMO, the athletic department and president's office are just banking on weathering the storm of sorts.  Because, at some point the vocal show of dissaproval by the donors and fans base just turns to apathy and acceptance.  Basketball will start and people won't give a sh*t.  So, we go lose to ku and MU, probably Nebraska, that's a foregone conclusion.  What else is left to be said?  How many more e-mails, phone calls and donation rejections are going to happen that already haven't?

Wefald and Krause are just going to ride it out.  They've commited to "their" guy.  I don't really think in their minds going to a bowl game or any discernable progress in wins and losses is REALLY a mitigating factor that will affect keeping Prince around or not.  Crazy as that sounds.  I saw enough idiocy out of Wefald when he rationalized keeping Wooldridge for another year to believe it.

You can also frack it all pretty quickly.  Look at Rutgers.  Built that fracker over night and then it went to crap.

I honestly think if Prince comes back next year, he'll go to a bowl game just due to having seniors all over the place.  But after 2009...

 :flush:

So, the problem with retaining Ron after this year is that he'll go something like 7-5 in 2009, but they'll go 3-9 in 2010.  So, a vote for Ron this year means he's here another two years IMO.  That's what's scary to me.  At this point, two more years of his recruiting, and it's going to take years to recover.

And the benefit to rolling in a new staff at the end of this season is that they'll probably make a bowl game in '09 and will be able to use that as a base from which to recruit.  Ron could make a bowl game in '09 and he still wouldn't be able to recruit Bill Clinton to a whorehouse.

qft. just when you get excited about an alamo bowl possibility, you remember this.

remember the 07 class? we finished AHEAD of ku, beat Texas in a thrilling game everyone saw nationally, Mangino was pretty much a dead man and that bastard still out recruited prince.

Yep, that's what guarantees a Ron Prince flameout.  And by "recruit" I'm including assistant coaches, not just players.

You're assuming Freeman is back next season, which is highly unlikely IMO.  I'm seeing NFL draft projections now that him going as the #2 QB in the class.

Frack his inability to recruit.  That is what it is.

If I'm scared of anything, I'm scared crapless of a scenario where we don't go to a bowl in 08' and and they retain Prince for next season with Carson Coffman as the QB.

If we go 0 for ku, MU, Nubb, how can we bring him back as a coach? If you can't beat your divison rivals even once in 3 years than you shouldn't be coaching period.

Krause: ... Coach stays!

you need to get that script into cattmatt's hands pronto.

Unfortunately, I don't hear Jerry Goldsmith's rousing score.  I don't see the montage of our boys making outstanding plays and suddenly winning game after game.  I don't see images of former RP critics in the stands, suddenly cheering like die-hard faithful.

Sadly, I do not see the cutaway from the montage, and RP shoving Tibesar's face in a sink full of water.

RP:  Now listen ... we have four games left down the street.  With Josh, all the pistons are firing.  Now you come along for the ride or check yourself into a hospital so you can clean yourself up.
TIBS:   But you have got to promise me you are not gonna get thrown out of anymore games.
RP:   Scout's honor.
TIBS: You mean Scout.com's honor?

Tragically, I do not see RP asking a ref to throw him out of a game to Tibs can coach us to a victory.  I do not see a little guy like Keithen Valentine being called in to kick a game-winning field goal in the ISU game to secure our place in the Big XII Championship.

And sadly, I do not see us in the Big XII game against Texas:

BANKS:  Man, these guys are tough!
FREEMAN:   This is embarrassing!
ALESSANA:  I can't stop that guy!
RP:  Well, maybe they were right about us!  Maybe we don't belong here!
(boys look at each other solemnly)
FREEMAN:  Come on, let's go!

... and then we all woke up.

It definatly is for his future as the KSU head coach....I know that for a fact
