Title: 1-9 . . .
Post by: sonofdaxjones on October 27, 2008, 09:17:15 AM
K-State football in its last 10 games against BCS schools.  1-9

But hey, I really think that Bob Krause and Jon Wefald should continue to cobble together excuses and stupid reasons to keep Ron Prince.

If there's any truth to the Pitt St. staff rumors than it just tells you what small timers some KSU people are.

If Jon Wefald is going to run around and pretty much take all the credit for Bill Snyder, than he should summarily take all the blame for Ron Prince.

My brother called me from the stadium last Saturday, still doing his duty as a fan in our seats on the upper level.  3 years ago we were surrounded by K-State fans, last year a little fewer, this year he and his wife got to watch the game with a bunch of friendly OU fans, for the Nebraska game he fully expects to be surrounded by cornholes.

But hey Bob Krause didn't notice those fans leaving early against Texas Tech.

My support for Bob Krause wanes.

My support for Bob Krause wanes.

I never supported him. He should be a donor...but not our AD. It is a complete white flag of surrender that we hired an AD with no experience being one.

It's not.  AZ's uncle that got a little cash off of stafford county oil is not a major donor.

Don't get what Krause has done to cause support to wane.

Had to do that, books.

It's a non-issue.  It's also old news.

It's not the extension that bugs me, that's nothing more than fluff.

I just think the guy is with the Weefer and doesn't want to admit they made a huge mistake.

Krause is doing his job when he makes statements like those.  It would be much more worrisome if he didn't publicly support his people.  If he fires Prince at the end of the season, you will love him.

i don't get the 5 year extension talking point.  contracts don't mean crap.  too early to know anything about BK.  like c1 said, if he plays weefer's puppet at the end of the season then we know we have a problem.

Yeah, ok, Bob gets a pass for now.

Anymore stories about the Weefer getting all weepy at the lack of support for Prince??

1-9 is very, very Stan Parrish like
3-0 vs 1-AA (Illinois State, Missouri State, Montana State)
3-0 vs the Sun Belt (Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Lafayette)
1-0 vs the MAC (Marshall)
1-1 vs the WAC (San Jose win, Fresno loss)

How did we beat Texas?

Yeah, the record is beyond horrible.  One of the worst in the country.  Just like the good old days.

But hey, we scored 35 on OU!!

Sure, they had to put No-Doz in their Gatorade, but we did score 35!!

I count 3-9 dating back to the 47-20 victory over the Buffs last year in which we we still had a chance to make a decent season.

Our three wins:
2007 Colorado at home
2007 Baylor at home
2008 @ A&M

key wtf losses:
@Iowa State
@Nebraska
@Louisville

My quick tally has Prince's record against

BCS:  8 -16 (.333)
Non- BCS: 8 - 1 (.888)

That's pathetic.

Parrish was 2-30-1, Prince is currently 16-17.  That's a no-contest folks.  Prince may be as bad as Parrish but the record on the field is much much better, at least so far.  I have no doubt at all that Prince will approach Parrish-like futility if given 3-4 more years but he's not there yet.

Freeman and our offense is keeping us competitive with the Lafayette's of the world...and we also dominate Montana State and North Texas...but when faced with a competent offense and coaching staff we pucker up.

I couldn't agree more.  This team minus Freeman would still put up decent performances against the likes of Montana State and North Texas.  After 2-3 more years of Ron's recruiting I expect that those games will move into the "competitive" category and we'll have arrived at Parrish-like performance on the field.

After Tyrik takes over, we'll be fine.   :thumbsup:

Parrish was the worst of the worst.  And we've sort of excluded Prince's first year in this thread.  There are plenty of bad former KSU coaches comparable to Prince in his second and third years.  Seriously.  55 points in a half?  That's like old times.

IMO, Prince is on his way to becoming the next Vince Gibson.  The problem is at the time, .500 ball and "competitiveness" seemed pretty good.  It only took 8 years to run its course.  Now expectations are higher, so its taken a little over 2.  But overall he's pretty similar in the kind of records he's putting together, building a program around 1 great local QB recruit, some hype he created, and a few wins over good teams that really didn't translate into much else.
