Wichita State, the only college in Kansas that sits in the middle of a slum.  Considering how large Kansas is and how few slums there are that's quite a feat. :chirp:

AzCat is going to find himself next up on the stabbing block if he doesn't watch himself.

The area of T-town Washburn is in isn't quite middle-class. Let's put it that way.

It's not that bad at all around Washburn.  It will only get better with the college hill development.

East of Washburn = pretty shady.  North, west, or south of washburn = not bad at all.  Actually there are some very nice neighborhoods around there.

My girlfriend lives North of campus, and "not bad at all" isn't the phrase I'd use to describe the area.

I've lived in Topeka all my life.  What street does she live on?  PLass is kinda junky, but Jewell/Boswell/College aren't bad.

Randolph.

Randolph.
Haha..if you think that is a bad area, go to North East Topeka aka "Oakland".

First off Randolph is west of Washburn University, directly north of campus is the statly college hill neighborhood, you might drive through it, large well kept older homes that fall in the six figure range. I live northwest of Washburn University, and it may not be Salina, Prague or Austin, but its no ghetto (however, east of Washburn Ave might be considered so).

Top Shelf.

Koug's fave cities: Manhattan, Salina, Prague, Austin.

Explore the world young man, there is more out there for you.

This crap is real on the streets of Topeka.

Not to beat the dead horse and pending one's definition of North.  There were several shootings (some fatal) in my neck of the woods *north* of Washburn on Jewell & Boswell, on the other side of Huntoon, in the early to mid-90's (I haven't been there since).  IMO, Huntoon served as the division between decent/shady.  While I may not be decent, I'm not shady (or slim).

Dude you are telling us alot about yourself.  Only a little rich white kid would say the area north and west of Washburn is ghetto or "not middle class".  Try getting out of Salina, Prague, Austin or Manhattan one of these days and find a real ghetto.  You are one little rich white boy that would be in complete shock and in some trouble.  :poundon:

He is talking bout North and West of Washburn campus.  Much different neighborhood than Jewell or Boswell.

a) Though it is home, S-town is hardly one of my favorite cities. Way to put words in my mouth.
b) You're a moron and know nothing about me, despite what you think you know.
c) There is never any reason to leave Prague or Austin.
d) You would also be in complete shock and in some trouble if you strolled through a "real ghetto." You badass you.

c) There is never any reason to leave Prague or Austin.

Does this mean that you are irrational?

It means I know a kick-ass city when I see one.

If you do something for no reason, you're irrational (or at least non-rational).  Since you claim that you've done something that there is no reason to do, you must be irrational, right?
