Title: 787 . . .
Post by: sonofdaxjones on September 25, 2008, 06:04:36 PM
that's how many more first year freshman enrolled at ku as opposed to k-state.   In both cases, the schools set a record for 1st time freshman enrollment, and both schools set records for total enrollment.

Given Ben's proclamation that ku had one of the largest, if not the largest freshman class of colleges and universities in the United States, we'll just have to see how ku's 1st year freshman enrollment of 4,483 stacks up against other universities in the United States as they release their 20th day (or thereabouts) enrollment numbers.

Well K-State is getting a new jet . . .but one that was a 787 could be a little large.

Imagine pulling up in front of a recruits house in a 787.

I don't know about Manhattan, but no problem landing it at Salina.  They could land the Space Shuttle on that thing.

It's officially one of the backup landing sites for the shuttle.  I'm rooting for that to happen one day.  I'd be like   :dancin:

assuming that half of those are women...

I wish I were back in college.

Has anyone found anything on the internet about time travel?

Given Ben's proclamation that ku had one of the largest, if not the largest freshman class of colleges and universities in the United States, we'll just have to see how ku's 1st year freshman enrollment of 4,483 stacks up against other universities in the United States as they release their 20th day (or thereabouts) enrollment numbers.

Developing . . .

Let's see:

* Arizona State has ~50,000 students
* 4,483 is the largest incoming freshman class in the nation
* Retention rates are roughly 50% which means by 4th year 4,483 would be down to 2,242
* Under the most favorable (to Ben) scenario 4,483 (fr) + 4,483 (so) + 4,483 (jr) + 2,242 (sr) =  15,691 undergrads
* 50,000 - 15,691 = 34,309 "others"
* Assume 50% grad / undergrad ration --> 15,691 / 2 = 7,846 grad students
* 50,000 - 15,691 - 7,846 = 26,463 "others"
* 26,463 / 2,242 = 11.8 years worth of "others" @ 2,242/class

Thus, if ku has the largest incoming freshman class in the nation, we would expect the average ASU student to complete an undergraduate degree in just under 16 years.   :eek:

It's not anymore.  In fact I have never found any hard evidence that it ever was, although it makes sense that it would be considered, being one of the longest runways in the world and all.

I actually did see a southwest airlines jet parked at the Manhattan Airport a few weeks ago. Thought it was kinda odd.

By standing in the street bitching about having the best health care, some of the highest paid wages, and putting thousands of other people out of work because you think the best way to getting a better work environment and job security is to stop working and walk around with picket signs rather than getting an education and finding a better job?

excuse me for being bitter.
