Any good? Any of you computer d00ds have input? :dunno:

Concept is cool but some parts of it tie in to your internet options on your OS which I don't really like. (proxy settings, history, etc)
-
Tried it. Didn't dislike it, but I'm just so used to Firefox.
-
It's not really worth it if you're liking a browser. It doesn't bring a thing to the table Opera and Firefox don't already. Incognito is it, and well, I'm a man that owns my own computer. I'm not ashamed of my massive porn collections.
-
Tried it, not the least bit impressed . . . already removed.
-
Nothing special. Seemed to be fast on the sh*tty scout boards.
-
They just did a piece in this month's Wired about it that got me interested. Said it's 10 times faster at running java script than firefox and 36 times faster than IE. No that I know WTF javascript is but I guess I'd take faster or whatever.

36 times faster than already fast enough is too much $$ in R&D.
-
Better than IE, but I still prefer firefox.
-
. . .noob alert. . .
umm. . .is there really a difference between the browsers? Don't they all do the same crap?

try opera you will not be dissapointed. :nerd: :users:

Firefox beat them to the punch imho. We already have an open source browser and Google's version doesn't do anything better than Firefox on a broad page surfing level.
They could get the upperhand with better bookmarking and RSS but Firefox is already on that too.

I'll vouch, Opera is a good browser. I still use Firefox

I really like Opera and it would be my main browser, but google docs doesn't work 100% with it. So, back to firefox.

Where Google Chrome is supposed to separate itself is in running web apps, which ties in with Google Docs, etc. They've designed it to be a better browser for running these, by things like having each window or tab run as a separate process so that if one crashes, it doesn't take the others with it, having a much speedier JavaScript engine, and having an application mode where you create a shortcut to a web app that opens the web app in a window stripped of browser "extras" to allow the maximum amount of space for the web app.
Google is betting that people are going to be turning to web apps more and more, and that they will turn to Chrome as they do so.

Pretty good idea with all the "net-books" coming out right? (LCIQ guy talking here)

That would certainly be a trend in Google's favor, although it may still be an open question as to how much word processing/other uses besides e-mail and basic internet surfing folks will ultimately do on netbooks, due to the smaller keyboards and screens.
Wired has an interesting article (http://www.wired.com/techbiz/it/magazine/16-10/mf_chrome) about Chrome's development in its latest issue.

Yeah bra, all over it. That's what got me to start this thread. I've only used IE because I never cared but that got me kinda thinking about trying something else.

Hey sd, if you feel like explorin something new, try out Opera. It's pretty slick, and it syncs your browsers bookmarks and everything (ie. between work and at home). Firefox also has plugins for this. That's just an example of some stuff.

Yeah, kinda seems to "trendy" to me. I'm not very proficient using stuff so I try to stick mainstream as much as possible (ie. still using IE). Chrome seems mainstream and retard-user friendly enough for me though.
