Title: team 2009 recruit rankings.
Post by: sys on September 19, 2008, 06:01:01 AM
ksu @ 15 behind osu (@13).  ut, ou, ku, and even mu have good chances to pass ksu if martin and staff don't add another solid recruit or transfer.

i don't see how ut isn't ranked with the addition of bradley.  weird.

Would be awesome if he stayed in the top 15 (< sd previous retarded standards for '09 class have been lowered significantly in recent months)

updated and expanded to 20 teams.  big 12 looking good after a poor 2008 class.  ut jumped way up, apparently rivals just didn't bother to update with bradley last week.

Don't you think that we will definately add another recruit?  What would the addition of a Russell, Boyd, or even Lat Will do for our rankings?

Yeah, but he kept saying we would drop out of the top 20 w/o another commit.  That's why I asked.  I was just curious how much of an impact (on our rankings) a 4 or 5 star guy would make.

And, now that I think about, I imagine at least a few of the teams ranked above us have already filled their scholarship limits.  So us adding a recruit would help us in relation to those teams whose recruiting is most likely over.

a lot.  but i don't think that is likely.  a ranked 3 star (krussell) would prob. bump ksu up to around 10-15.  they'd have a decent shot at staying in the top 20 at the end of the year with that group if they all matriculate.  great shot to stay in the top 30.

ksu not in the latest top 20 list, but it appears to be an oversight given this quote

Quote from: justin young
Arlington (Texas) Grace Prep point guard Nick Russell took himself off the shrinking class of 2009 recruiting board last weekend after he visited and committed to Kansas State. With Russell's addition to the class, the Wildcats climb back into the top-20 team rankings.

imo, ksu should be 15 or 16.

Actually, on that date uk was unranked.  This is not a list of where the teams will be ranked, but a list of where they are currently ranked.

No way I would trade classes with OU or anyone below.  Memphis is arguable depending on how you weight JUCOs.  With Hill, I wouldn't trade with anyone below Texas.  I'm not sure what Young's reasoning is.  Maybe Rivals thinks J-Hen is about the worst three star on in the database.

Weird thing is, it seems like J Hen stock has been rising lately.  ESPN has him in their top 150 of all players.  Regardless of where they have us ranked, this is still a pretty damn impressive class.  And I really like that we were able to land Russell, it gives us a bit more credibilty as we didn't rely enitrely on Assualt ties to land a high level prosepct.

Can I get my name changed if I make an intelligent post over here?  I get bored from time to time in China.  I would be satisfied with "Chinese Squawk."

Anyway...

I think K-State could be our Mizzou in the future.  I think that (as much as I hate to say it) with Frank and Delonte, KSu can easily be the second-best team in the north for years to come.  They get good recruits   Phrank is a decent coach.  I have to admit that.  You all beat us when we had a national championship team.  We hate you.  You hate us.  This is better than when you had Asbury or Woolridge and you were consistently one of the worst teams in the conference.  We'll probably sweep you two out of every three years in the future, but you will probably always give us a good game in Manhattan in the years to come.  Mizzou sucks at basketball now, and Texas and Oklahoma are football schools and don't care if they beat us, so we need someone in the North to compete with us in the future.  I think that you guys fit the bill starting next year.

So... that's it.  I'm rooting for and against you guys at the same time.

OSU is going to be a major force in about every sport for the forseeable future.  They're starting to remind me of Texas.  Money builds top notch facilities and hires top notch coaches.   Scary thing is, as they build better programs, more and more boosters are going to be adding to the T Boone fund.

Absolutely love what Frank and 'Te are doin.  Class like Beas/Walker is a once in a lifetime deal, but they're definately bringing in great talent that will have them in the big 12 race for years to come.

Also, Frank is an excellent x's and o's coach.  Love him.

I was looking at an outdated list that didn't have the Henry commit. Clearly Xavier puts them over the top but the Nov. 12 early signing period ranks were what had me scratching my head. Irrelevant now though.
