weird, but they didn't release it because of it's shadiness(sp).
they are keeping it secret to keep it out of the press to keep our image clean. but evans will be in purple sometime this season..

it is legit... we found out a few days ago when rumors started to surface..

I have said all along that I would welcome Evans as a Wildcat, but I still have a WHOLE LOT OF DOUBT that this is true.  Especially after all the stink that KSU's administration had about Evans just last month.  The kid was basically railroaded at prep school by an overzealous prosecutor, but the bottom line is that he was forced to plead guilty to a misdemeanor and that didn’t sit well with the powers to be.  As stated, I am not in any way convinced that he will play at KSU this year...

they didn't want it to surface because of the press we would be getting and everything else. they wanted to wait awhile before they had him enrolled so that people will somewhat forget that he was convicted. that's why he won't be enrolled until second semester obviously... evans just made our team much better :D

If JMart says its not Evans, could it be a high schooler coming in early?  Someone who graduates this december.  I don't even know if thats possible.  However, after Bill Walker was ruled inelgible, I heard rumors that he will graduate in December and then could join the team in the new year.

Now I have no idea if that is even possible, and the rumor did not come from anyone close to the situation.

Shocker Dude   Cheap shot, WSU would jump to have a player of this calliber. I still think he goes to Smithson for a year though. Go ahead talk smack. Answer this, once a young man gets on the wrong side of the law should that  be it or do young people deserve a second chance. Should we  just haul their asses out and just exicute them.  Do you have all the facts in this matter? Lay it out!  I for one would like to see this kid get a second shot. I find it refreshing that Huggins for one beliieves in some of these kids and is will to give them another chance. I  also find it refreshing that he doesn't feel  compelled to hold his finger in the air to see which way the wind it blowing! I think that is what you would call a leader. Would Turgen do the same? I think he might. JMO

As far as the Evans rumor goes, if its true, we're stilling going to get nailed locally, and even nationally.  Its unavoidable.  Its just gonna come with the territory.

I live in Pittsburgh, PA, and after the Tyler Hughes story broke the talk radio here in Pittsburgh took their fair share of shots at Huggins, despite, Hughes not even being a Huggins recruit.  Just gotta laugh it off.

Until Huggins goes through a couple years without any major issues, the pot shots will keep coming...or until he wins a championship...this year or next...  ;)

Walker couldn't be cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse tbh.
Why not?
Several reasons he can't register with the NCAA as a "qualifier"-
He hasn't graduated high school.
Don't think he's taken the ACT/SAT or finished the required number (w. corresponding grades) of core courses.

He could possibly register as a non-qualifier, but that'd be kinda odd considering he really wouldn't gain much (if any?) of an advantage by doing so.

Couldn't he qualify as a December graduate, especially considering he's been attending "high school" since the eighth grade?

He could take the ACT in October and December, and get 2 Big XII seasons and 1 full season getting ready for the league while being treated like a god on campus.  Wouldn't be much advantage to coming on as a non-qualifier.

Walker doesn't make sense because Fitz has hinted that if this player gets out in the public, there is a good chance we could lose him because other schools would cheat to get him.

He could qualify as a December grad, but whether or not he's been attending high school since eighth grade doesn't impact his NCAA eligibility.  It's all about finishing core classes (as defined by the NCAA) and qualifying as a HS grad.  He also can qualify early by a mega huge ACT/SAT score which would eliminate his need to finish the core class requirements.

Why would Fitz leak any of this if there's a possibility of losing the player, sounds pretty stupid to jeapordize a potential recruit in this way. Once he started the rumor he opened the flood gates to speculation, sooner or later someone will figure out who it is, inadvertantly or not.

So when the news comes out, he can show that gopowercat.com knew about it.

I have no problem with what he did. Then again, I love Fitz.

I don't see why it would be any different from what Josh Freeman and other high school football players are doing.  Gotta admit it would be friggin sweet if it were to happen...

p.s.

i think JMart knows or has an idea, he's just playing dumb for all of us.  Maybe he was swore to silence... :loly:

I would definitely subscribe to GPC if Fitz could convince me that he sometimes has inside info on stuff that he won't share with me as a subscriber until it becomes public.  Oh, but only if he says, "I knew it all along," when the info is made public.  You have to give him credit.  It's a brilliant strategy.

One of my sources on the Ivory Coast left me a message last night asking me to give him a call.  I have the feeling that I may have some big news about the mystery player after I get ahold of him.  Don't worry, I'll keep you guys informed.
