Title: anyone else do any serious college football betting?
Post by: Andy on August 31, 2006, 03:21:04 AM
i had a pretty good year last year, went 78-58-1 +20.32 units

i have a pretty decent system following line movements and paying attention to where the public is laying their money.  that and info from some handicappers i trust.

couple of games i'm playing for tomorrow's opening action--

central michigan +11 2 units
kent +15 2 units

usually quite a bit of value in the less popular games.

not sure yet on the saturday games...still researching.  kinda like georgia tech (+6.5)at home to put a little scare into notre dame...

Just due to my location I throw some money down.  Finished in the money (top 5%) in a local CF betting contest through the Hilton/Caesars Sportsbook a few years back.

Games I like today:
Ball State -4 1/2
S. Carolina -7
UTEP +3

Still working on Saturday...that's when I'll really play.

adding Mississippi St. +7

love the home dogs in national tv games, especially when the public is completely against them.

like the ball st pick, they finished strong last season.  also like UTEP getting some points facing Chuck Long's new team San Diego St.  going the other way on S. Carolina.

Good luck lets win some $$.   :beerchug:

No!!!!!...the House passed a bill in July but it has yet to come to a vote in the Senate.  It may or may not make it to the floor this year.  If you want to be able to keep betting on sports and playing poker on-line you should e-mail your Senators now to let them know how you feel.  Also e-mail the Senate Leadership, it may help it from even coming to a vote.

Adding....

East Carolina +12 1/2
Pitt -3 1/2

My stupid money play of the week may go with SMU...who I keep going back to despite the fact I know I probably shouldn't.  I'm really only incredibly positive about the first three plays I posted. Need to do more research on USC, Utah, and La. Tech as those games are *of interest*.

FYI on Utah if yer thinking about them...(something i found from someone i trust)

UCLA was a very, very lucky team last year. They kept winning games with miracle plays, special teams, key bounces of the ball, despite being ranked #115 in defense. Reality sets in this year. UCLA outscored teams last year, but lost QB Olsen, RB Drew, and TE Lewis to graduation and the NFL. I spent a good part of the beginning of last year betting against Utah after Urban Meyer left. Finally, the line and public caught up to Utah being overrated to the point where at the end of the year Utah was underrated, and I started pounding Utah with my bets with much success. Utah is 14-1ATS in the last 15 games as an underdog. They finished the year on a very high note, shreding Georgia Tech in a bowl game last year 38-10; I had a 5 unit play on Utah in that game. When QB Ratliff took over in the last two games, Utah averaged over 500 yards total offense per game. This is still a high powered offense that UCLA cannot stop. Utah has the better offense and better defense in this game.

btw, i do like yer e. carolina, pitt, and houston picks.  i'm leaning toward all those but i think i've put enough down for today.

gl!

19-

I actually have Utah on a small parlay...we'll see what happens.  UCLA is just too tough a read for me right now.  I'd like to make some money on the Utes, as they killed me in the nut bowl last year.  Think I'll keep my attention on the Aggies in Utah however.
