All of the changes come on defense.
-> Brandon Harold takes over the starting spot at DE from Eric Childs. Childs moves to 2nd string behind Campbell. Harold is backed up by Guidry.
-> Hansen Sekona will get the start at ILB, backed up by Alex Hrebec. That means Reggie Walker is now 2nd string and moved to OLB behind Antwon Moore.
-> Finally in the secondary, Ray Cheatham is now starting opposite Josh Moore, pushing Blair Irvin to 2nd string. And coming off a big game vs. Montana State, Prince has given Herndon the nod over Gary Chandler as starting SS.
Thoughts?

Not a fan of the Sekona move, even though Walker hasn't produced.
Love the Harold move.
Irvin moved down baffles me, I feel like he's been very good. No one has hardly even threw on him.
Herndon over Chandler, I don't know. Herndon has been in the program for four years and hasn't done a whole lot until last week and most of those things were handed to him other than the blocked punt.

Harold-great move
Sekona-good, walker hasnt done crap....like ever.
Irvin-shocking. he's done a v. good job imo. BUT Cheatham has looked good while in as well. Both will get considerable pt.
Herndon-hate it. Chandler is good.

Harold starting opposite Ian is amazingly awesome.
Sekona over Walker is a push imo.
Cheatham over Irving is  . Irving has played excellent so far. Cheatam is pretty good though so whatever.
Herndon over Chandler is more indicitave of Herndon's performance last game. I predict Herndon has a very Marcus Watts esque career(Awesome at times, complete crap at others,) while Chandler will be consistantly solid performer. Either way I think Chandler sees a lot of playing time.

Wasn't Herndon sidelined the past couple of years with grades/injury?

Dunno where the Irvin love is coming from really.
Ok he didn't allow any long plays...but that 15 yard cushion he gave did stop anything, but he was good at making the tackle afterward.

Every cornerback so far has been doing that

Harold should be tougher to block than childs. Should take some pressure off of cambell. esp on pass plays.
:hope:

Most of them are getting their first "start" for the experience of it but all will alternate with the other starters from last week. ie Cheatham/Herdon

Hatter, thoughts on the moves?

I'm not sure the Herndon/Chandler and Irvin/Cheatham switches matter much. They will probably get the same amount of snaps regardless. I would say the same for Walker and Sekona, but I don't really get Walker moving to the outside. That leaves Rohleder (terrible last week) and Hrebec (who?) off the bench on the inside. Moving Harold opposite Campbell and Childs was fantastic IMO.
Only 6 guys I feel ok about on the second string: Calvin, Childs, Felder, Walker, Chandler and Irvin. IMO, Walker has to rotate at ILB.

Herndon hasn't had grade problems. He has had a couple injuries as a frosh and soph. They were afraid the injury to his shoulder area was going to be a career-ender.
Cheatham started against Montana State, so that change isn't new.

I thought that was because we started in nickel? no?

now 7-8 defensive starters that were not starting last season...prob a good thing

Not sure they are great moves for our first road game, which will be the first for some of the new starters. All in all, I don't really think it adds up to a hill of beans.
I'll tell what I don't like. I don't like seeing McClellan or Erker :ku: in the 2 deep. Was not impressed at all.
