How's the wether? -- Here is Rex Morgan's scouting report on Chris Merriewether, a 6-foot-4 guard who played for Morgan at Arlington Country Day and is choosing to walk on at K-State and play for Bob Huggins instead of offers from several Ivy League universities:
"He's a heck of an athlete. He's 6-foot-4 with a 6-foot-8 reach. He's an overachiever, the hardest worker I've ever had.... He's hard-nosed, he's a leader. Obviously, he's very bright.
"If Huggs told him, 'I want you on the football field at 3 a.m. to run sprints,' Chris would be there at 2:30."
Merriewether missed much of his senior season at Arlington because of a broken hand. Morgan regarded Merriewether as his team's defensive stopper; Merriewether held Montrose Christian star Kevin Durant, who will play for Texas this winter, to four points in the second half of a 48-36 loss in the Iolani Prep Classic in Honolulu.
Morgan believes Merriewether may work his way into the rotation simply because of his defense
