Kansas State defensive back Courtney Herndon was picked today as the Big 12 co-defensive player of the week. On Sunday, he was selected as the Walter Camp national defensive player of the week.
In the Wildcats’ 69-10 win over Montana State on Saturday, Herndon returned a fumble 43 yards for a touchdown, blocked a punt that was recovered for a touchdown and had an interception. He shares the Big 12 award with Colorado defensive back Cha’pelle Brown. Oklahoma State’s Dez Bryant was the league’s offensive player of the week and Nebraska’s Niles Paul was the special teams player of the week.
The Wildcats are off this week before playing at Louisville on Sept. 17.
