(Warning to all! If you cannot discuss hard-core x's and o's, LEAVE THIS THREAD!!!)
So, how do we attack? Kentucky really didn't move the ball on Louisville at all (202 yards of offense) and they killed tennesse-t.
Do we play arrogant and simply have freeman launch the ball 50 times, ala Auburn? Or, do the opposite? (http://texags.com/images/forum/icon11.gif)

I prefer X's over O's. They just look cooler IMO.
-
I really can't see us having much success running the ball. So we have to have Freeman start throwing, in hopes to open up the running game. I think we will have to rely on the golden boys arm, just not seeing much hope in the running backs.
-
This thread reminds me of another good Mitch Hedberg joke.
-
Good question. I think we have to try and establish the run game first and give it every chance to succeed, but if it does not... it is also pointless to have a talent like Freeman and not use him. The most important thing is to get the win. Many would say and I would agree that the "short passing game" can be just as effective as the run. If we are getting 2nd or 3rd's and short then it really does not matter if we got there by run or pass.

TIC TAC TOE!!
I WIN.
-
Freeman to a totally healthy Murphy (surpriiiiiise). Murphy and Turf Smurf combine for 300 yards receiving and 4 TDs.
-
Kentucky is not that good, Louisville is worse, we can win.
-
- Don't abandon the running game right away.
- misdirection (WR reverse we saw yesterday, etc)
- slip screens
- blitz, trust the DBs
big win...we'll party it up at 4th street live afterward!!!
-
We need to score more points than they do.
Think I think we'll win.
JMO.
-
I think we should throw and run the ball.
-
We should probably keep them from scoring more points than we do.
I think that's a good strategy.. imo.

The joke that keeps on jokin'.

There can be a bit of redundancy in these type of threads and articles for that matter. During game weeks, by Friday and Saturday I am about sick of reading the articles published on the games cause they tend to be obvious, repetitive, and dull.
Plus, at this point in the season its hard to pin point a strategy against a team I know next to nothing about. Other than their record.
-
The subject matter was completely misleading. The original post contained nothing special in terms of X's and O's, merely generalized strategies about what our QB should do with the football in his throwing hand.
At that point, the warning seemed to have been melodramatic at best.
:flush:

what if it not working? We just need to not turn the ball over, imo. think of big rons wins on the road. no bad TO's.
-
UofL has turned the ball over 7 times in the first 2 games of the season. 3 INT's and 4 fumbles lost. Our defense is going to need to take advantage of this. Getting pressure on Cantwell will be key.
We're not going to be able to run the ball effectively. But we should have plenty of time to throw seeing as UL has only 2 sacks on the season. If JF has time we certainly have a shot with the way our recievers have looked thus far.
-
Big ron's 2 big 12 road wins = @ cu 2006, @ ut 2007
combined ksu turnovers those games = ZERO
fatty, good call.

jailbreak screen to Banks...

We could try the wishbone and really catch the LOU off guard
-
We need to practice the reverse to Lamark in practice, get that play down and it is MONEY IMO

I think Snyder has been teaching Soul Glo option football in secret and I think Louisville is the first team we spring it on.

Is there a choice? Do you have a run game?

i say set the tone with an onside kick to open the game...they won't be looking for it

Said the pot to the kettle.

We've got to be able to get some pressure without bringing the house.
Slow down the running game, don't give up big runs.
dominate special teams.

Yes let Freeman launch it all over the field. Their secondary and LB's are inexperienced. I think we can exploit them they have not seen a guy like Josh that can attack to any part of the field at any time. In their fist two games it looks like teams have hit some short passes on them but nothing down the field.
We're going to need to try and stretch the field on them. Problem is that is hard to do without a running game. They'll be able to play two deep safty's without a lot of fear of getting gashed in the run game. This is a problem we will face all season long.
-
No we shouldn't run the ball, at least not right away. We should spread them out and throw lots of quick screens. Those can be our running game. You throw freeman into the running game, and draws and the occassional run to keithen/logan. Freeman will be throwing the ball a lot, though. Especially the way our o-line has looked running the ball.

This game will say alot about our run offense. I bet louisville keeps the safety's back as well.

2 sacks in 2 games.
And our true freshman DE leads the team in TFLs. :dancin:
-
KSU has tons to clean up.
Backside contain sucks.
Get to far up field to many times.
Tackling . . . very suspect at times.
To much leakage on pass protection.
RB's suck if they even get to the 2nd level.
-
on D- hybrid D with the 3-3-5 mixed in with some awesome blitz packages.
On O- whatever Freems and the genius O Coord feel like doing Louisville's D is lol.
And Special Teams need to stay special(except kickoff coverage) :ksu:

^^ prolly what we'll see in terms of game plan. 'tine and 'dold will hit them for a few draws for 5-8 yds just to keep em honest. Also see some mis-direction (spinner series maybe?!?)
'ville will definately put up points, just gotta the big negative plays (i.e. to's (good call fats) and big KO returns) out of the game completely and let 'ville keep thinking they suck.
Freemaw's heisman coming out game, imHo. :ksu: (can someone make a freemaw emoticon  )

My offensive gameplan would be to:
Open the running game with the pass. Three step drop slant routes and middle-screens to wide receivers. I would really love to see Lamark get a screen or two properly set up for him along with his fearless over the middle routes. We gotta get the dude into the open field if he's not going to be taking hand-offs. I love Quarles as a possesion receiver, but to get this started, I would use him as a decoy to run off a corner back or occupy a safety.
Around the second or third possession start testing off guard and tackle with Dold and see if we've softened them up at all. If we've got a lead going in to the second half be prepared to give a decent workload to Valentine and Dold in the middle. I think if we're going to try to run outside we may as well be passing it to a playmaker like Lamark or Banks on middle-screens and such.
I will need to study L-Ville a bit more before I comment on what needs to be done to stop them.

We have to get to the QB...Not just pressure..Take him down..
Also, Dold/Valentine/Woods need to combine for at least 100 yards on the ground...
