Erker. I know this guy is/was a walk on but is he any good? Also, wonder were Alstatt is? McCardle as fullback?

I gotta think Erker must be pretty good, because if he wasn't Watts would be there, hurt or not.

Who knows about Alstatt.

McCardle will be the H-Back and seems to be the type that would be effective.

Concerned about RB (for the 1st game...should be fine by conference season...lots of depth.)

QB Depth (Freeman, and Meier should be pretty good)

Seems like we have good depth on the O-Line...but how good are the young tackles?

We are sorely lacking playmakers at d-tackle. Cline and Seiler is scary. Mack behind Diles at MLB is scary. I don't want us getting run over.

D-end depth is bad. Viers??

Linebackers look awesome.

Secondary...get Watts back.

Special teams looks great.

I've heard Erker has been great in camp this fall. He is a lot better than you guys think. And truthfully......we will be using so many people in the secondary......who starts really doesn't mean a whole lot. It's who finishes the game.

I like McCardle at the H-back(yes it says FB-but it's really HB)........he's got great hands......great speed. And he is pretty much a perfect fit for this West Coast offense.

I think right now the big question mark is the offensive line and how well the can protect this year.

It's time to play. :D

43.....maybe when you reach 15 years of age, you can semi discuss a little football with me.

But son......I know a hell of a lot more about FOOTBALL than you do. And it has absolutely nothing to do with any beverage I drink.

Don't you have some homework to do?

PS. Manu is still recovering from MONO. Should be back within a week.

Zen......Manu is hanging around 3rd string. I hope he hasn't lost a lot of weight. Mono is not fun to have. I hope he can move back up the chart. He has got great heart....so don't be surprised if he does get on Wagner field soon.

And 43........I wasn't talking smack with ya. Your the one who accused me of being drunk. I have the right to defend myself to that kind of talk. I did, and I will every time.

I did find in interesting on the interactive depth (rivals) chart that when you change to pro set Alstatt pops up as the 2nd string TE and Moreira comes in as the third option at reciever.

I honestly never thought watts was that great of a coverage d-back.  He is however a great hitting d-back and plays the same style as a john lynch or like rashad washington did when he was here.  I was pleased that our d-coordinator has experience using a safety such as watts.  That said, I find it hard to believe that we will benefit from not having him on the field.  I'm not too worried about the depth chart the first game though, I think it could change before marshall and/or louisville however at that point it will be fairly set.  Watts was injured, Clayton is suspended and I don't expect freeman to be on the bench for long

Whoaaa... what happened to Maurice Mack?  Him at MLB is a frightening thought.  1.  He's not 5'10.  2.  He's not 215.  More like 5'8 200 soaked in mud, I love that guys heart but he'll get run over at the MLB in the Big XII.

I saw him recently and he actually looked pretty thick.

He could be 215.

He can also cover, which MLB willl need to do in the Cover 2.

"Prince released his first official depth-chart Sunday night, and despite returning 17 starters from last season, the two-deep consists of 10 players who have never started a game."

This is from the AP story.  I'm not sure the exact meaning of this, but it sure will be intriguing to watch and see what becomes of these moves.  To me it speaks of a program full of hype, but with little talent on the shelf.  Prove me wrong Prince, please prove me wrong!
Title: Re: Depth Chart

First of all, Prince has said that he plans to shuffle people in and out, especially on the lines, and in the defensive secondary.  I wouldn't get too caught up in the two deep.  The FB position intrigues me, and I think maybe it is like what was said earlier, when McCardle is in, he'll be an HB and when Raymer comes, it will be more of a two TE set.  It seems like a few people around here need to take a chill pill, and not jump to conclusions.  Some of you are bashing people you have never seen play yet.   You're buying into hype, and you can't always judge a book by it's cover, at least give guys like Erker, Viers, Moore, etc a chance to prove their worth.  I for one am absolutely stoked.

Seriously though, this is why pointing to 17+ returning to starters as a positive is not very dense imo.
