doesn't make a ton of sense, so my vote is yes, it must be legit.

although I had thought we bought our way out of the much anticipated annual match up against the Cyclones in order to pursue a yearly game in Gainesville.  which we in turn bought ourselves out of and signed a 8 year home-at-home deal with the University of Eastern Idaho

Actually, it does make some sense.  Both teams travel well to KC.  Both have played non-con games at Arrowhead giving a good indication of expected turnout.  This thing could be a success.

I just have a problem believeing that either Ames or Manhattan would let a conference home game and the economics that come with it go without a big fight.

I'm not sure about you, but I always trust 4th hand information from people who spend 23 hrs/day on a message board.

so does it make sense or not, because you kinda disagreed then agreed.   i don't see any benefit to this potential game, so, to me, it doesn't make a ton of sense.

i don't care the "the clones" travel well

It may be a good deal financially for KSU, but not be good financially for Manhattan and Ames.  I could only see a South opponent being played as a non-con game as a win-win situation.  Maybe OSU.

ISU is putting in a bunch of new suites and stuff . . . I can't see the folks who are buying those being real happy with seeing a conference home game moved to kc . . . same goes with K-State.

People that pay thousands upon thousands of dollars for suites want to be able to use them.

Perhaps scheduling our rivals, Texas, in a non-conference match up in the 'head on years that we don't play them would be a good plan.

 :dunno:

Essentially, you have 2 games in two years generating revenue for the AD instead of 1.  Krause doesn't need 40k at either game, but I don't think that 40k would be impossible to get if KSU has a decent season this year.

Very wise observation. Don't view this as giving up a home game, view this as dropping a road game. and gaining extra $$

Eku "fans" are all over this.

I remember when ku played ou at Arrowhead and 30,000 ku "fans" showed up as seats, and another 10,000 showed up as OU fans.

Anything can happen.  ku and MU might be slugging it out for 5th come 11/29.  Not that you would have gone to a game in that horrible venue anyway.

I wouldn't doubt it.  We got what, 17k for a weeknight basketball game.  There are alot of casual KSU fans in KC that would go to Arrowhead for a game, but they do not want to drive 2+ hours to go to Manhattan for a game.

There's no way though that it would affect this year, correct? We can't move a scheduled home game this late of notice to Arrowhead I'm assuming because season ticket holders would be furious

Not for Aggieville.  So how many home games are we down to?  4-5.  I liked the good old days when football games were played in the towns where the colleges were located.

BTW, I live in KC.

2 revenue games versus 1.  Probably not great for Aggieville merchants and the RCPD but still, the AD has to gets paid.

You hitch your wagon to Ron Prince and Kaptain Krause's star, and they parlay that into some sort embarrasing rivalry series with a team with zero national recognition and the losingest record in Big 12 conference play (or second-losingest, who really cares).  What a joke.

Hey fcKSUtick,

This is an opportunity for two of the Big 12 institutions who often find themselves on the short end of the stick in terms of revenue to maximize revenue generating potential and essentially eliminate a road game off of each of their schedules.  Both fanbases travel well and the game will likely be very well attended.  WHo is to say what the profile of both programs will be in 2009.  This may be the Big 12 North title game.

This is a major plus.  OU and UT shouldn't be the only teams that enjoy just 3 conference road games a year.

Plus, I'm like Limestone.  I'll def. go to both games for sure, now.

But it's still pretty dumb.
