coming off of two disappointing seasons, KSU still looks to surpass the 38,000 mark on season tickets.
Meanwhile, ku, coming off what by all appearances is a season for the ages; HOPES to set a new season ticket record at 27,000. Season tickets at ku are also $70 less then KSU's and they also have a family plan.
ku "fans" ... never really ready to even climb on the bandwagon.
KSU may sell as many as 50,000 season tickets for football and men's basketball combined.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Also saw that the $4K ($4,335 actually) a pop court side tickets are nearly sold out for hoops as well, and KSU's Stadium club is sold out, and there's a waiting list for sky boxes in the football stadium.

weird thing along these lines though was that i was walking through walmart in topeka tonight wearing my huggieville t-shirt and i walked right past a lady wearing a ku fort worth bowl t-shirt and we both just kind of stared at each other. a few years ago something like that would have never happened.

Unlike ku, there has been no real alternative to KSU football in Manhattan in the last 15 years - unless you want to count Women's BB. The fact that BB season comes after FB season, it makes it easier for the less-than-die hard ku fan to overlook football. ku fans have been teased with short term FB success and are less willing to (literally) buy in to the improvement of the football program.
ku fans don't pretend that we have the same broad based support that KSU has enjoyed for football, but there is an genuine excitement for the football team that I have not seen over the last 25 years.
And if RP falls on his face in the first two years, then you can kiss all that football support good bye. I firmly believe that Huggins will drastically improve the KSU BB program and that's that just the type of distraction that college fans need. Trust me, we ku fans have many, many years of first hand experience.

and that is exactly my point the last time anyone gave a crap about ku football was, i guess, chip hillary and the aloha bowl and the last time anyone cared about kstate basketball was mitch richmond and steve henson.

ku has 27,000 students (of which 30% come from Johnson County alone) and over 120K alumni within an hour of Lawrence.
I wouldn't call 27,000 season tickets "genuine excitement".

i think for ku its "genuine excitement". have they ever sold that many season tickets?

Why do we have to bring the GP/KSF ku obsession over here?
-
It's just good old fashioned ku bashing.

I know, man. It just makes us seem obsessed. Which some of us are.

When it's the offseason, and we've got nothing to discuss from a real game ... why not??
I grew up surrounded by ku "fans" and have half a family full of bandwagon ku "fans".

It just gets old, especially 1 week and a couple days before kickoff. FWIW: I'm speaking as a member, not an admin.

I try to at least keep it relevant to what's in the news.
Graduate Assistant Gate is in the news, and involves a former KSU player. Ticket Sales is in the news as well.
-
The reason ku fans don't support football is because they're soft ninny-boys. :ku:

Attendance is steadily on the rise.

Attendance is steadily on the rise.
And can be for the next 150 years, at this rate.

My brother and sister (both med students) both bought season tickets just for the KSU game. 45 dollars for season tickets. How f-ing hilarious is that?
-
They saved $40 bucks and might be able to even get all their money back.

Mob Anger: 0 Don't trust the ku season ticket hype...
A close friend of mine is in charge of marketing for ku athletics, and we recently chatted about the fact that ku seriously pads these numbers....there season ticket sales numbers are a sham, and include student season ticket sales, giveaways, free handouts, etc., unlike Mizzou and most other Big 12 schools.
Like most other things, the spin machine is alive and well in lawrence.

Doesn't everybody include student tickets in season ticket sales?
-
our basketball ticket sales are increasing, but like ku football sales, they don't represent as much in revenue as we would hope.
one 20 win season from huggins and you'll see basketball tickets get more expensive, more aggressive donor requirements, etc. and the cash will really start rolling in.
it's good to be a Wildcat.

Any post that starts with 'A close friend of mine at [insert rivals school]' has a 99% chance of being bullcrap.
Good talk.
