thoughts on the fact the majority of the players/starter are snyder rejects? (unruh, stringer, bedore, spex....etc..)

Stringer and Unruh were maybe the last 2 decent highschool recruits Snyder ever signed. It's a good thing the starting o-line is juniors and seniors that have been in the program awhile rather then redshirt freshman and first year jc transfers.

fair enough, would like to see someone beat out spex.
Stringer and Unruh were both highley recruited, yes.

take an average olinemen out of HS, get him enough PT and they'll be solid, maybe not great but solid by their senior years. That's where we are this year with them, IMO.
-
Prince will be fine just as soon as he gets "his guys" into place. Until then, he'll continue to try to figure out how to get "his guys" to come to KSU.

the o-line is weird. their conference stats will tell you that they are average to above average:
PPG - 3rd
Total Offense - 7th (but above OU who is 9th)
Sacks by - 2nd
Red Zone Offense - 3rd
it just couldn't run the ball or be very efficient:
Rush O - 8th
Pass Eff - 8th
3rd down conv - 10th
and it generally looked like crap at some key times last year (i.e. auburn, ku, isu, even the nu game). but we'd feel a lot better about our O if our D wasn't the second coming of suckage.

I wouldn't consider Bedore a reject... remember we were winning against ku before he came out injured then we lost that game and then the season went :flush: I'm just sayin look for Bedore to have a good year at Center

until he gets injured in the conference opener.

Yeah I guess I should have added if he stays healthy
-
had we stayed healthy last year on both sides we'd have won 7-8 games IMO.
-
The o line could be pretty decent.
chum nails it . . . if Prince can nab about 5 or 6 academic reject o-lineman from Virginia we could be set there however.
-
If healthy, Bedore could be and All-Big 12'er.

plz
Bedore was the anchor to our oline...not the defense. We had no pressure form the front seven down the stretch...and to that you could argue was due to injuries and Josh Moore being a punk douche.

So you don't think having Bedore in for the end of the ku game wouldn't have helped? Because it wasn't the Defense that was the problem in that game, they did fine. It was the fact that after Bedore went out of the game the line couldn't run the ball, and they couldn't protect Freeman. Bedore was the anchor of the line, and called out the blitzes and defensive schemes from the line of scrimmage to help the rest of the new O-line men have a heads up on what they should be looking for. You take Bedore out of there, and there goes your leader on the O-line, and you get exactly what happened at the end of the game. I think if Bedore stays in the game the line doesn't fall apart and K-state at least manages another touchdown to tie the game, and that could account for another win right there.

ku dominated that game. We were lucky to be as close as we were.

the defense was fine? 30 points allowed on your home field?

This can be explained by our extremely short-pass happy offense last year, and Jordy just playing amazing. Josh isn't going to get sacked often only taking three step drops and passing quickly.
When we get in a position that we have to make a long pass, like 3rd downs, then we get in trouble. We would often get blitzed, and even in the shotgun Josh wouldn't have enough time to go through his progressions and make the right pass.
The rushing was average at best, and honestly I think the only reason we had as good a season rushing as we did was because JJ played extremely well. I don't think the current schemes and recruiting being used by the coaching staff will ever get us a great run blocking line.
All that being said, our offensive line should be the best since 2003. I said that last year, and it was true. This year should be even better than last year. They won't be good by any means, but they'll be solid enough to allow our playmakers to shine..if they have the talent to shine.

Umm weren't we winning that game in the 4th quarter? I would hardly say that ku dominated that game. In the first half we had the ball on there end pretty much every possession, our offense just kept stalling. Also, that pick that Freeman through at the end of the first half much completely changed the face of the game.

totally agree. both teams were fragile mentally coming in, and i believe the confidence ukans got from tieing the game before half was all they needed to keep it together the rest of the way. its amazing how the whole season for both schools might have hinged on that monumentally arrogant coaching decision.

No dummies. They were good last year and we sucked. Stop trying to convince yourselves that the season for each team came down to one play.

obv i was overstating things but i do think college football success (compared to nfl) has a lot more to do with the mental side of things. i dont think KSU and ku are worlds apart talent wise, yah know? you dont think both teams end up with completely different seasons if KSU stays ahead in that game and pulls it out?
