Game clock

The game clock will start when the referee signals “ready for play” after any possession change (punts, turnovers, failed fourth-down plays). Also, the clock will start when the ball is kicked off or kicked or punted on post-safety free kicks.

Shortened tees

Kickers will use 1-inch instead of 2-inch tees on kickoffs. The idea is to produce shorter and lower kicks for more kickoff returns.

Instant replay

Every conference will use instant replay, and coaches will have one challenge per game. Unsuccessful challenges will result in a timeout.

Bowl eligibility

In a 12-game regular season, teams with 6-6 records will be eligible for postseason play.

Anybody else think that the clock rules are completely stupid and unnecessary? I know Mike Bellotti of Oregon, Urban Meyer of Florida and Joe Tiller of Purdue are with me on that.

More fumbles? More line drives that players will just back off leading to no change in kickoff returns?

Awful tough in late game comeback situations.   If you force a punt, that ends up being placed deep in your own territory on the far hash, you better have the offense all ready to go, particularly if you're short on timeouts.

And a kick-off touchback will now run off, what, 4, 5, 6 seconds before it gets whistled dead?

College football is damn  near perfect the way it is. Why mess with a good thing? If the want to change something to help game they should be adding  a friggin playoff system.

Are you disqualified from talking about College Football if you don't have a team?

Someone verify this for me.

You're right man. You got me. Since my alma  mater no longer has  a football program all WSU alumni are banned from watching or discussing college football. Please don't report me to the NCAA!

That's not a hat, not a hat at all!  It is a monstrosity though. Worst mascot ever. We should change our name from The Schockers to just The Shocker. That way we could ditch the ridiculous Wushock. Sex sells, right?
