Title: One thing I would've done...
Post by: ksu_FAN on February 09, 2006, 09:49:35 AM
is foul Stinson after he dribbled off the high screen at the end.  The likely hood of that shot being made is much higher than making a FT, missing the 2nd and getting the offensive board and putback.  Plus he'd dribble enough that there would've been only around 4 or 5 seconds left and he had already missed 2 FTs.

Surprised that hasn't been discussed yet as it has been something talked about a lot this year.

What do you think of c-stew launching the ball w/4 seconds left hoping the clock will run out instead of going to the free throw line KSUF AN"?

I understood his intent, and I think he was off-balance and thought he might travel.  He could've chucked it a little higher and further though.  As a poster said on GP, had Pervis done that instead of celebrating, we would've won that game vs CU.  I've seen it done before.

Yeah, he should've chucked it up in the air. His thought process was fine, but the execution wasn't perfect.

Would it be a technical if he threw it at Bergstroms (player for ISU LOL) face?

Someone's been listening to Keitzman. With this team and the other Wooldridge teams I wouldn't have them do it because we'd probably go to foul him, he'd launch a 3 and two things would happen; 1) He makes the 3 and gets a free throw; or 2) He gets 3 free throws, makes them, and then we screw up the inbounds pass. You also have to have someone with the basketball savvy to know when to foul. They had 13 seconds. They could've done a multitude of things. Stinson probably could've attacked the basket, scored, and either got fouled or start the process of us having to throw it in against their pressure. If you told our team to foul in that situation, my guess is they would've fouled right away leaving 12 seconds to screw things up.

Haven't heard it from Kietz.

Watched the end of the Tech-OSU game where Sutton had his guys try to foul.  They asked Coach Wooldridge about it in the next conference call and he said he'd always been one to just play defense, but he mentioned he was thinking about changing his mind on it.

Certainly, you have to put limitations on it, and you have to have your smarter kids doing it.  In that game, Stinson ran quite a bit of clock before he made a move to shoot, he came off the high screen and Dramane switched to gaurd him.  It would've been legit to foul right as he was coming off the screen b/c he wasn't even close to being in the act of shooting yet and there were only about 5 seconds left.  Its a very situational things and I was just wondering what others thought about it.  It can be debated back and forth with no right answer.
