Anyone ever tried it? I think I want to pick up Swahili.

I want to learn Spanish so I can yell at my maid more efficiently. I'm considering Rosetta Stone but it's pretty damn expensive for some cd's and stuff.

I've had good results with it. Nothing replaces immersion, and taking classes is also generally more productive. But for learning languages on your own, this is the best I've found.

The chick on the commercials has a nice rack.

What have you learned? The military gives a special version to its soldiers to help them learn Arabic. I don't know if this makes me believe that it works well or not. I guess their versions might just teach them how to say things like "naked pyramid, you, now" or something similar to that. I think I'll try it out though.

I used it for a 30 day crash course in Spanish before moving to Chile and am currently dicking around with Arabic (my problem is that I don't consistently make time for it; I've learned a crapload when I've actually used it). I'm not fluent, but I can read and write it and can have half-assed cab-driver conversations.

Yeah, but as opposed to the CDs in the $20-40 range, it's not a waste of money.

I have a friend learning Japaneese with it. He likes it, but he does seem to learn random words.

This is very true. My father-in-law gets pissed and says I don't know any useful words, and I'm all "The pear walks beneath the table. The red square is bigger than the blue circle."
