Jon Wefald, former chancellor of the Minnesota State University system and now in his last year as president of Kansas State, is the most sports-minded school president I've ever met. The other day Gophers men's basketball coach Tubby Smith was talking about how three years ago Wefald tried to hire him away from Kentucky to be basketball coach at Kansas State. At the time Smith was also offered the Oklahoma job and one other.
Smith talked about how Wefald kept raising the offer to try to get him to Kansas State. "I kept telling him, 'It's not the money, President Wefald. I'm not looking to leave.' But he kept upping the offers," Smith said.
kind of a random story.

We are going to have a hard time replacing him :frown:

We were really close to getting him when we hired Asbury. All indications were that he wanted to come here but he just used us to get a raise from Tulsa who he turned around and left anyway.

Gen Meyers will do a good job (when hired). Purple through and through....

At least he didn't say Pat Bosco.
They aren't going to hire a guy from within. And if they did the only guy that would have a shot at it would be the Provost.

Athletic Director/Vice President of Institutional Advancement/University President Bob Krause has kind of a nice ring to it...

Um, pretty much anyone. FWIW Cargill Prez, Duane, Brownback all been rumbled at a much more serious level than that lispy joker. I think Cargill prez is the best bet for total university awesomeness, but I fear for athletics. Pretty much a downgrade no matter who comes in.

Brownback is not an option. The university and BOR is extremely upset with his lack of support of education funding for post-secondary schools. The last person they are going to put as president of KSU is Brownback. Weird Robert>Brownback

He has reportedly expressed interest. Personally I think he is just as ridic as Myers.
Cargill prez or Duane are the most likely of the names I've heard. I expect Ag and Engineering to make pathetic pushes to put some nerd or hick in there and for them to be properly told to f off.
-
I just :barf: 'd at the idea of Brownback. We'd be an 8K enrollment Jesuit school in like 4 years. F*ck him.
-
Brownback's runnin for gov in 2 years. He won't be pres.
-
from national presidential candidate to KSU presidential candidate...lols :chirp:

Thinking that the College of Ag is just a bunch of hicks proves you know nothing about KSU outside of athletics.

Rumblings that Stoops is coming back as football coach/university president

Bro. Sorry I hit you in the nuts. My point is that installing a Prez with a pet agenda is something that Wefald has proved is the oppo of what we want. We've had them before and they were the reason our uni sucked ballz.

Wow. Could the majority of the fanbase take two black coaches. I'm guessing no.

Think that all of those WBB fanatics would be on board if Deb was black? Old people are racist.
