3 teams with better programs than ours wanted AE pretty bad, makes you wonder about princes eye for talent. but ae finally settled on the Badgers
-
they have, what 6 qbs, on the roster in madison?
ae better get past his aversion to proving himself.
when you have 6 qbs, the scout team for the scout team is REALLY good.
scary good.

That's one way of looking at it.
Another is that AE isn't averse to competition--and a lot of it--when there's actually going to be a competition.

So you are saying that AE is better than Dylan Meier and Josh Freeman.
Don't think so.

Alan didn't seem pleased that he had to prove himself "all over again."

you are reading an awulf lot into one quote a kid said to a reporter.

Well then, how about "....I didn't feel I could contribute to the team in the way I[/i] wanted."

This seems like a plausible explanation..
I'm afraid I'm not bright enough to figure out how a person could say a guy that goes where there is MORE competition for a job is afraid of competition.
-
i certainly agree with your self proclaimed lack of brightness.
facts are facts. evridge was happy as co-starter. as soon as he's not a co-starter he starts making comments about having to prove himself all over again, and decides to transfer.
evridge would have rather played defense and leave the offense with 2 qbs than battle it out from the #3 spot.
-
I can't believe that BB promised AE the starting job. I bet those other 5-6 QBs are really pissed.
-
Wow, big step up for Evridge.
Huge Big 10 TV contract, getting even bigger with more coverage. If he gets to be the starter, we're going to see a lot of AE on the TV.

Brett probably promised him he could play D.

yeah, me either, that is just how freakin brilliant Mr. White is compared to us. :forked:

There are indeed 6 QBs already on the roster...one senior, one junior, and four freshmen.
Someone should probably call AE ASAP and let him know that he's made a huge mistake, given his "proven aversion" to competition, especially from freshman quarterbacks.
:jerkoff:
remind me again how many practices ksu had without evridge being a starter before he wanted to transfer.

Irrelevant. For the hypothesis that AE was afraid of competition to be correct, then there has to be a consistent explanation for his decision to leave KSU and give up a year of eligibility and then two weeks later go to a school with twice as many QBs as the one he left, and with no less than four freshman QBs in its system. I can think of a few consistent explanations:
1. AE decided after he left KSU but before he picked his next school that he isn't really afraid of competition.
2. AE believes himself to be clearly better (ie, no doubt in his mind that he will beat all five out, hands down) than all five QBs that project to be at Wisconsin next year...all of whom will have had at least one more year in the system than he will have had.
3. BB promised AE that he will start for Wisconsin next year.
I'm curious as to which explanation is supported by those who think AE was afraid of competition.
-
With 4 underclassmen (3true freshmen/1 RS), its likely that none are knockout standouts and the 3 true freshmen will redshirt. The 5th yr Senior will graduate, the 4th year senior will likely be #1 next season, and the RS freshman will be # 2.
So by default, based on his starting experience and being a quick study, AE would probably already sit in a co-#2 position, hmmmm, all without having played a snap for Wisconsin. Coach's favorite son?
Yes I am being sarcastic here, but on that analysis it does look to be a good situation - better than where he would be at here, and I truly wish AE the best.
-
The logic of Mr. White is entertaining.
-
He said he wasn't receiving a fair shot at Ksu. He will there.
It was never a competition issue.
End.

Dangit, Goldy. Don't undermine my points by supporting them.

he won't even be on scholly this season. BB probably did promise playing time somewhere on the team.

for the hypothesis that ae didn't receive a chance to compete for the job at ksu, it would have to be shown that he was never treated as a co-starter.
whoops.
ae thought he had earned the right to start or at least be #2, and didn't need to prove it this season. coach disagreed and wanted to see what the other qbs had. ae didn't want to be #3, for even 1 week, so he bailed.
-
I think what we've learned from this thread and the many others like it, is that we really don't know $hit about the situation and points could be made to argue in favor of Prince or AE. And after all this speculation, we still haven't figured out the real story and know just as much as when the news first came out.
But..it's still semi-entertaining to watch you all quibble over it. :D

Where did that hypothesis come from? We were discussing the hypothesis that AE was averse to competing and proving himself. Don't change the subject just because you can't logically defend your previous assertions in light of the fact that AE was willing to give up a year of eligibility to go to a school with more competition and more freshman quarterbacks.
-
It's very clear for those that understand what's going on.
AE was not afraid of fair competition.

"I'm afraid I'm not bright enough to figure out how a person could say a guy that goes where there is MORE competition for a job is afraid of competition."
you need to ask catfan 28 where he keeps hil kool aide at, I don't think he drinks it though, I think Prince gives him a special dose

Good one grumps.
I think I'll have another.
