PANCAKES!!!

not even close imo.

Waffles are "Hey, I'm in a rush here.  No way in hell I'm settling for cereal or insta-oatmeal, but christ those pancakes are such a chore....I KNOW!  I'll settle for some Waffles!"

Are you talking about frozen waffles? You can make a case for pancakes being better than frozen waffles but true waffles made in a waffle maker are far superior to pancakes. It's not even close.

Dude, you pour batter into a waffle maker.  Stupid, lazy (fat) people only.  Pancakes?  Skill, wit, endurance and deliciousness.  Really no comparison.

so what do you do for pancakes? pour batter onto a griddle or pan, whats the difference? but I do have to agree with pancakes if you add other things choc. chips, strawberries, bananas or whatever else they are much better.

I bet you just like the syrup. Pancakes are far better because of the crap you can throw in. You can also throw it in waffles, if you want them "compressed"

They both use the exact same batter. Waffles have better texture and have the cool/hip design that catches the syrup so you don't waste any. Frankly, this entire thread just pisses me off. There is no argument you can make for pancakes being better than waffles.

In terms of syrup, rub the piece you cut off on the plate to pick up some lost syrup. BFD.

And yeah, you can put chocolate chips in waffle. If you like tasting crap.

In Pancakes they keep their round luxurious form, thus when you bite into them, you actually taste chocolate.

I can easily tell you have no culinary skills.  That statement was about as retarded as it comes.

Depends.

Are these handmade waffles in a good steel waffle maker like the pros use(belgian waffles)

or are they the crap Eggo's.

Pancake mix by Bixquick isn't bad but I prefer the real handmade stuff on the weekends.

Pancakes are easier to make since waffle recipe asks you to separate the egg yolks and whites to make it fluffier.

both good but bisquick would beat  anything frozen.

IHOP?

I'm with waks 100% on this one

Waffles:
Cool shape, perfect for anything you want to spread on them
Evenly cooked on both sides
Easier to make
Delicious
Anything you put in pancakes you can easily put into waffles

Pancakes:
Doughy on the inside
Have to flip them while cooking
Look like fat old lady tits

...absolutely zero comparison

+1, unless we're talking swedish pancakes...then it's a whole different story.

I can easily go with either, both are really good. Slight edge to pancakes.

Are swedish pancakes the same as dutch pancakes? A giant pancake with onion and bacon in the batter is &@#%ing delish.

Uhmmm, no. Not that a pancake w/ onion and bacon sounds bad, but no.

easily waffles.  Easier to make, taste about the same by themselves, however I prefer the little bit of crispyness you get with a waffle rather than a big floppy circle.  waffles are less messy because of the "traps" and you can put anything on a waffle that you can on a pancake and it stays in the waffle better.  Plus your wife/gf cannot, I repeat CANNOT &@#% UP A WAFFLE  burnt pancakes. . .gay. . .burnt waffles. . .impossible to do (with a good wafflemaker that is)

I don't know if I will continue to talk to the waffle house crowd here.  It is like you are humans, with all the characteristics of humans, except you like waffles more than pancakes.  Inexplicable.

Waffles ftw.  It's like way back when somebody was like "what can we do to make pancakes even better?"  and somebody said "put little square traps in them for the syrup."  Thus waffles are a slight improvement over pancakes.

that sounds delish. waffles are easily the better of the two. however i do agree that french toast should be an option.

Also, pancakes + butter + syrup = crap
pancakes + LOAD of butter =  :lick:  (hint: use fork to poke holes so butter will melt throughout pancake and in your mouth)

both are gross and highly overrated.

wtf is a pancake anyways?  foam.  like that egg carton crap you put on your bed.  BUT IT'S GOOD WITH SYRUP!!!  No crap sherlock, what isn't?  Imo, anything you need to load up with sugary syrup and butter to make edible doesn't deserve to even be considered as "good".

next time start a thread about your favorite foam that needs syrup and sh*t on it to taste good.

waffles?  hard foam with canyons and gulleys in it.  same crap.

now, if you'd like to talk french toast, we can, because that is a food item worth discussion.

Not part of arguement, see above where I explain nobody over 10 years old would choose those hard lumpy excuses for replacing the wonderful pancake, merely a good tip for enjoying the wonderful pancake to its full potential.   :lick:

Syrup is very overrated.
