there's a video of these "premium" seats half way down the page. I mean, I guess if people are willing to shell out that money for it, f*ck it. It's kind of like those seats at the Bram that are pointless.

Wow, I wonder what world-renowned architects designed these seats?

is that a joke? LOL.

Nothing's funnier than watching your little brother get a couple of good swings in on you. He starts thinking he's pretty good and he can take you, but eventually he is reminded why you are the big brother and that his feeble attempts at covering up the track around the football field are useless.
-
god gawd, didn't we have leftover lawn chairs we could have sold them?
-
That's like the coolest trailer in the park.
-
Guests also were treated to a tour of the soon-to-be-completed Anderson Family Football Complex, the most popular stop of which was the super-sized office of head coach Mark Mangino, which is only slightly smaller than the state of Wyoming and comes complete with a personal bathroom/shower facility.
You know that shower had to be a part of some make or break deal for Mangino. "I said I wanted that second shower head at waste level! For eh, hygiene reasons." Probably a pile of used towels as they toured the place.
-
The personal shower was absolutely a Mangino demand.
-
Dax, please tell me that these weren't what Weiser was talking about, except they'd be in permanent seating form (kind of like the open louge boxes at the bram) but still "exposed" to the weather?
-

i laughed

I'm guessing alcohol is involved. It is at the Bram, and that alone makes them not pointless.
-
The best is the video. Announcer says "This is the first of it's kind in college football." Yes it is the first...and last. Until Duke has an Orange Bowl victory, then all bets are off.
-
Can someone go check the spin meter over on phag.net.
BMW and Jayhoax laughed at us for years for having folding chairs in the North zone.
At least we didn't place them on scaffolding and call it a luxury.

Nobody will buy these for personal use. They are marketed to businesses to buy them to give to clients. It's smart and, yes, it takes a lot of money to compete in athletics. Look for other college football teams to install similar setups soon.
OMFG!!!

Yeah, clients just love those behind the goal post seats.
Kstate installed something similar to this for clients.....Its called club seating mid-upperdeck.

Pretty nice IMHO.

One, you are looking at a small section there for demonstration purposes.
Two, they are temporary seats that are basically being used to see what the demand is for that type of seating while ku builds a new track facility, should be done in 2010, and then rips out the track and lowers the field. Most likely similar seats will be added to the lowest level of seating after the field is lowered though a club level on the East side is being considered.
Over the next 5 years at ku the field is being lowered, the track removed and a second side of suites will be added to the East side of the stadium and somewhere seating similar to this but along the sidelines will be added.
-
Well okay then.
It's nice to have resident squawk explainer.
-
What an embarrassment to the conference. This isn't Div II athletics people. Horrible. Even the highschool track is better than the western KS eight-man football bleachers.
:frown:

I'm pretty sure they've decided not to lower the field.

Can't lose the Kansas Relays! :runaway:

I bet I know what ends up on the outside of the new track facility!

no, no...they are lowering the field...if demand dictates it.
-
Will they have an open burrito bar in that thing??
-
Dax, seriously, was this the type of thing that Weiser wanted or had in mind for his alleged "open air lounge seating" idea except it'd be permanent seating fixtures rather than the metal bleachers with recliners? It reminds me of the basketball seating they have at the Bram with the computer chairs , computer desk, small flat screens with a view 100 yards away from the court.

Natural lowering from Mangino being on the sideline.

That's what he talked about . . . sad, sad, sad man Timid Timmy was.
Be glad he's pushing paper in a corner office in Dallas now.

One time at my high school we had a couch on a trailer in the endzone for some high school kids to sit on. Great idea IMHO.
-
They might as well roll in something from Kaw Valley Homes.
I think the big hit will be the Porta Potties.
-
It looks like a crappy jungle gym. Good thing they get a 22 inch monitor since they won't be able to see their video board (they only have one, LOL).

i crap bigger than that.

Man, High Schools in Texas have better than they do....sad.

Can you imagine how embarrassing it would be to show up at a game and look for your seat only to find out it's in that crapty bleacher aparatus behind the goal post ont he track? I would turn around and walk away fast hoping nobody saw me heading in that direction. It's like getting a football ticket but in reality it's not a ticket but a kick in the balls.

How about if the person who "gave" you those tickets, was supposed to consider you a valued "client"?
I'd be finding someone new to do business with.

nothing spells classy like squirming around on a sweaty leather seat on a hot fall afternoon. blue wings rising.
also noticed these seats aren't handicap accessible. well done asshole insensitive jayhawk pricks.
-
Atleast there would be plently of room for your kids to play. In all seriousness though, I hope that skyscraper doesn't obstruct the view of the hippies peeing on the hill.
-
Did you ever think you'd see something that would make the old folding chairs in the North Endzone at KSU look good??
-
It won't look as bad once they get the snow cone/cotton candy stands next to them.

I heard the softball field at ku is also getting state-of-the-art suites to take potential clients. You might be onto something.

God Lew is a serious forward thinking genius.

They are really sparing no expense on the new expansion projects. Go big or go home.

Doodz, didn't you get a close look at those recliners? They are in fact leather porta potties -- Mangino thought of it while he was planning his personal shower.

There's no way that structure could support Mangino and you know it.

hahahahah. holy sh1t.
-
LOL @ ku putting "luxury suites" in their f***ing endzone while we plan to install like 100 of them in a new state-of-the-art pressbox.
KSU is a much 'suite'-er school overall.

How emberassing.

Word on the street is that they paid a consulting firm $80,000 each to develop the new "branding"...

I got some pvc pipes and plywood in my garage. Now I can throw a recliner on there and have class up my porch with luxury suites.
Actually, I am pretty sure manhattan has building code against that kind of trash.

No, the one he uses is a beefed up office-chair version. These are for normally obese and old chicks in cheerleader 'fits.

Will this thing block one of the greatest settings in college football (ie- the gently incline known as "the hill".)?

True, however, by effectively closing the bowl with these luxury seats, their stadium will probably be the loudest in college football. :frown:
-
I have to admit, these "luxury" seats aren't one of Lew and crew's brighter ideas, BUT, word on the street about the new football facilities is :excited: , even with the clipart.

It looks like my highschool cafeteria on the outside :blank:
-
The mock up of these seats looks cheap but there will be permanent ones installed after the track is removed. Also I the size of the bleachers will be at least 4 times the size of what you see there so it will look less dinky I suppose. I expect there to be more covering as well as beer sales too. I'm interested in seeing how the bathroom situation will be. I'm guessing they'll use port a potties but they'll do whatever they can to hide them and keep it looking as trashy as it did at KSU. If Lew can sell 94 of those seats for 2500 bucks a pop I'd say he's doing a great job since all that money will go to the Football program.

Unfortunately, 4 X jackcrap still equals jackcrap. You would have to have about 20 of those things to make anything significant.

ku is good at football. Weird. Really weird since we're a basketball school. Personally, I'm a bigger bball fan, but whatev.

They should use golf carts to take them to the old restrooms in the stadium.

K-State Club Level: Marble Floors, private restrooms, stocked bars, flatscreens, climate controlled interior, sofas, elevator, permanent outdoor chair back seating.
ku "Club" Level: Open air, endzone, metal bleachers, with sofas, porta potties, and a keg.

K-State = Class
When you think of classiness, well, you think of KSU.
For ever. And ever. Amen.

thank you that is a very nice complement

"A total of 56 “club recliners” will be sold for $2,500 apiece, while 28 additional “club stools” are individually priced at $2,200. The cost includes complimentary food and drink, easy access to one of 22 flat-screen televisions and an opportunity to purchase the recliners following the completion of the season."
Can I have one of those? And, oh boy, I can buy it outright at the end of the season!

One of A&M's strength's has been facilities with recruits, but Henderson was very impressed with the facilities in Lawrence.
"The facilities are a little better than A&M's," Henderson said. "They have a nice indoor weight room. It's out of this world. Some of the best stuff is in there. You can do everything in one area. It's all together."
-
The Bright Football Complex is huge, but it's somewhat ordinary on the inside. But you've got to laugh at the kids "indoor" comment, haven't seen to many outdoor weight rooms at Big 12 schools. Did he get his algebra grade changed like Duh-Rel did??

How many facilities has Mr. Matthews toured??
He got recruited by OSU, is really saying that ku has better football facilities than OSU who just spent $195 million on football facilities?? OSU is building an Indoor facility that nearly twice as big as Anschutz Pavilion.

Matthews had offers to Louisville and Michigan, but I'm not sure if he took visits there or not. Being from Texas, I can assume he's unofficially visited all of the Texas schools, as well as several others close to home. The bottom line is that ku's new facilities are among the very best in the country.
-
Bottomline is ku has facilities that are now about equal with some of the better facilities. What's going on now is the same thing that happened when NC State opened the Murphy Football Center ($40 million) every time some kid committed they told them to tell everybody that NC State had the best football facilities they'd ever seen. When UNC opened the Kenan Football Center ($50 million) they told everybody who committed to tell the world UNC had the best football facilities they'd ever seen (which was probably true).
I've seen all the pictures of ku's new football center, and it doesn't look any better than 20 other football centers I've seen, and it doesn't look any nicer than OU, or Texas, or Nebraska, or MU, or OSU and heck Baylor is building a $34 million dollar football center right now.

You shouldn't get so upset about your facilities sucking...there's more to life, you know?

I love when people quote high school kids and take what they say as fact. High School kids are pretty much the most retarded people on earth.
