airports are not dirty and gross. if KCI was located on the KSU campus, chum1's thread would have 1 reply.

That reply?

Airport Building.

I guess we have different def's of dirty & gross.  personally they're friggin gross to me + way overpriced for stuff.

the gov't has put together a huge monopoly on where airplanes can land and take off basically forcing airplanes to use their facilities and thereby constricting the development of new and improved taking off and landing technologies.

runways/landing gear are ancient.  so are the other things associated with airports.

Whatever man, it just seems like everything I like you have to bash and make fun. After awhile it starts to get old and beats you down.

Based on what?  Based on where I'd rather spend an extended period of time:

Good: Denver, McCarran, Orlando

Bad: Wichita, San Diego, Ft. Lauderdale, Wayne County

I had the distinct pleasure of going to Florida last week, so here is a brief recap:

KCI, FTW!!  Getting in and out of there is incredibly fast and easy.  Luggage carousel, shuttle bus to the Economy parking lots, back on the interstate in 10 minutes, 15 tops.

Hotlanta - very busy airport, so kind of a drag if it's super-crowded.  Decent food choices, had some Chik Fil-A  :lick:  They have that subway thing if you have to change concourses and don't want to walk miles.

W. Palm Beach - lol, didn't know they even had an airport....but actually fllew there on a B757    Still a  dinky airport so if you had a long layover you might die of boredom first.

More than one London airport. And they all are cluster&@#%s.

But there is no airport I despise more than Frankfurt.

Atlanta FTW!

CLT

The walkway things, yes, helped some.  Still a long haul from Term C to E (not having to do security again, big+).  I had 1.5 hours to kill, so it was cool.

The electric cars were everywhere, so cyclist age folk were all set.

Mrs. Fields choc chip cookie.  :lick:

If you fly out of omaha you get to walk on the tarmac pretty much everywhere because most stuff that flys out of OMA (< legit flyer talk for the omaha airport) is tiny.

San Jose was the same way, you walk out on the tarmac. Not going to lie, I loved it. Seeing the big plane in person and going up the stairs was a top-notch experience. Flight attendants were on the ground & in the cockpit BOTH times politily saying "hello". But...herein lies the issue airports face today. Walking on the tarmac's is a much better experience for your travelers (BIG JET IN PERSON)...but you give off the scent of "small-time" and allow yourself to become a free target for potshots from the other big-time airports (denver would have a field day, particularly)

Was in Sea/Tac in Seattle last month. Very meh.

Must agree with Rusty here. KCI is solid because you are in and out.

Denver is really good. LAX is pretty good (very fast for the amount of peeps). SFO is surprisingly teh suck, although they have an excellent tram.

OK, just read this list.  Big WTF here.  Gets the worst grade of all the sd flown airports.  Resons?:
A) disgustingly dirty
B) broken sinks/tiolets everywhere
C) slow security
D) crapty bus system to get to rental car area

I'd rather fly into Dulles (< also horrible but less so)

Anchorage...huge 100 yd. picture window frames the mountains   Plus its cool to arrive in the evening and have it seem like 2pm outside (in the summer).  Weird to depart around midnight and have the place hopping with people.  Negative: TONS of cruise-riders going home wearing souvenir t-shirts, acting trashy and being generally acting like about 85% of the KSU fanbase...if they sold Skagway Zubaz, these people would line up for them.

I'll be in Boise this weekend.
