If you have the skills, please post amusing pictures of the proposed practice facility with your own spin put on them.  Prefer at least one KATPAK-related one. TIA.

Well that's a concept that HOK proposed, there were several.  But you have to remember that since part of these projects is paying paid for with bond money, K-State athletics is required to put the architectural services out to bid.   So if HOK doesn't win that bid (which would be a travesty), then the facility may look a whole lot different.   I understand the architectural bid is going out pretty soon.

From what I hear they may be looking at as many as 4 full sized courts, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that, probably 2 full sized courts.   There were as many as 4 concepts, and of course timid Timmy was leaning toward the paired down concepts and Krause is leaning towards the higher end version.

There's a least going to be all new basketball offices for the men, new men's dressing room, new weightroom , new sports medicine center, hydrotherapy center and more offices.   One concept had the women getting new offices and dressing rooms as well.   But they'll likely just move into the men's old offices.

Krause as I've said before wants to expand the pressbox from endzone to endzone as well, put in a bunch more suites and another Stadium club.   By comparison Timid Timmy wanted to look at open air loge boxes.

You all should be extremely pleased that Timid Timmy has disappeared to push paper at the Big 12 offices.

Good update.  Question for hbbiq types:  What is the benefit of 4 courts vs. 2?  Can you really utilize 4 courts outside of AAU type events and camps?  I want as many courts as possible but would rather have it look really good/be-hi-tech-ish if it comes to a trade-off.

8 baskets and half courts to shoot around on rather than 4, the AAU aspect you mentioned earlier (which is huge,) general recruiting awe.  Also if we do give equal time to estroball to practice in the new facility then we could use 2 courts per team during practices.  Might not be worth the $$, but it has it's advantages, and if we look back and say, "oops, we really needed 4 courts." we can't really go back.

Yeah, makes sense.  But I'd be more worried about having to say, "Oops, could have used 25 hotter flatscreens/PS3s/Sexiness but now out of money."  Room to practice probably wouldn't be extremely high on my list of things I would take home mentally about a facility if I was a recruit.  But, again, I'd gladly take both if possible.

 :flush:
i stopped reading after the "8 baskets and half courts to shoot around on rather than 4" part.  it couldn't have gotten any worse than that, so you've got that going for yourself.

You could have men and women practice at the same time w/ 4 courts.  It's very easy to use 2 full courts for a single team practice.

Not a good idea imo.  Could end with shenanigans similar to ku football ogling the women's track team and gym class on the track during practice.

Well - that depends. If 360 Architecture gets the gig, I'll be fine with that. They just did Auburn's 90+ million BB practice facility and it's pretty sweet. They're also building the new Giants/Jets stadium, which is a billion dollar project. One of the partners at 360, Jim Calcara, is KSU grad and sits on the K-State Architectural Board. I would have confidence that it would be done "right" if 360 won the bid. They run a good shop.

My thoughts weren't really related to capabilities.
