Title: This thread is confusing
Post by: Pete on May 28, 2008, 08:33:12 PM
There is a Dennis Franchione on GPC, and the poster just basically says "Dennis Franchione" to all "Prince Fans."  Well, the firehoses come out.  The thing that is surprising is the bashing of Fran.  I had never really given Fran much thought, but after reading that post I am thinking "&@#% yes."

The guy has accomplished more in College football than the vast majority of coaches who have ever been at that level. Sure, aTm had some bumps, but they play in the freakin' south.  aTm would have been consistently top 2 in the North over the same stretch of time.

He's from Kansas, and has recruting ties all over the southwest, including Texas....and has WON as a head coach.

I have NEVER been impressed with Fran.

His teams at A&M constantly looked unmotivated, no imagination on offense . . .  :yuck: :yuck:

I agree. He gets recruiting seconds from almost every town in Texas and even a few that go aTm over UT and still couldn't get it done. I think he'd crash and burn here

Have you looked at what he has accomplished before he was at aTm?

Also, here you don't have to play UT, OU and Tech every year.  Not too mention OSU, who has been improving steadily and recruiting better over the last 5 years.

Yeah same.  I'd only seen him at aTm and thought he was completely mediocre.

But he actually was very successful outside of College Station.  Alabama, tcu, even a D2 college in Kansas, and apparently he was even an assistant at K-state for a while back in the 70's.

Of course I'm never going to let the Venables dream die, but Fran would be a suitable alternative.

Remember how every retard on the planet thought Huggins would be a bad hire?

This Fran-hate reminds me of that.

That's cool, so he just waited until he was in a recruiting hotbed to suck balls.

The guy who replaced Fran at tcu is Gary Patterson....
Patterson is a perfect fit for KSU, heck he even played here....
More likely Patterson comes here and Fran goes back to Froggy land....

Okay, well,

Fran at A&M

4-8
7-5
5-6
9-4
7-6
----
32-29 (.524)

0-3 in Bowl Games

Fran would likely be a good serviceable coach at K-State, he'd be a great fit, everybody would love him because he's a Kansas guy, so I'd predict an uber-Wooly if K-state had Fran.

I get a kick listening to him talk but other than that...I could give a crap less about him.
