Title: How many games will this record last?

Evridge played in nine games as a redshirt freshman last season -- starting six -- and threw for a Kansas State freshman record 1,365 yards and six touchdowns. Against Texas A&M, he completed 23 of 44 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns.

I'll say 5.

Prince's popularity will skyrocket right off of our current chart if Freeman averages 273 yds/game in the first five games.

I'm basing that off Freeman winning the starting nod and averaging 300 the first 3 games.  Likely under 200 in big loss to Louisville.  Around the 300 mark in first road game vs Baylor.  He could get that much and the Cats still be 3-2 or 2-3 and all over Prince at that point.

All things considered, I think that would be a great accomplishment.  It would be pretty rough if we threw for 300+ against Illinois State, FAU, Marshall, and Baylor and still lost to one of them.

Remember when we threw it vs NU 4 times and still beat thme by 36?

Yeah FAN, I'd be very impressed if Freeman could do that.

How dare you question Freemans abilities.

He will not only accomplish said task, but he will beat them by more, and look better doing it.  Josh Freeman is the Michael Beasley of football.

Heck, I'd just be happy if he was a Jonathan Beasley.

The stat that jumped out at me is the 6 TDs.

That sux.

Freeman, if given the starts, will top that in no time.

He played from behind - alot.  He racked up passing yards that way.

I think the same thing will happen this year.

one thing we definitely have going for us this season with freeman is he's a really big dude.

You've got an offensive line used to a lot of 2 back power/counter/trap (and frankly not very good the last couple years) running 1 back zone run schemes.  Its going to be an adjustment, both for the oline and the backs.  Backs will now have more freedom to choose a gap as it develops, but that will take reps.  We did some of that with Sproles b/c he had those skills, but I'm not sure that's Clayton's strength.  In any case, we're going to be a pretty pure zone team with is a pretty big adjustment.

All that said, that will effect our passing game, and we may have to lean on the passing game quite a bit more to get yards, especially without the QB run game.  I'm not expecting this team to be in the upper half of the league in rushing, probably less than 200 per game; so if we're going to win we better be throwing for 300+ game in and game out, whoever the QB is.  Be ready, its going to be a major transition watching Wildcat football.

Revisited...

Freeman will have to average 160 ypg over the last 4 to break AE's record.

Freeman has already thrown 1 more interception.  :frown:

1st, I'll admit I overestimated Freeman's skills.  Though Nelson's injury certainly hasn't helped him.

2nd, I nailed our problems with the running game early on.  Fortunately we've gone back to some two-back, power running game stuff.

3rd, I still think Freeman has a good shot to break that record (I expect a 250+ day saturday and hopefully he can get a TD or 2 through the air).

I'm not sure about that.  You probably underestimated the suckiness of our offensive line, but Freeman is very capable of having 300 yard games...he had 200 in a half vs. Baylor and 270 against a top 25 team.  I think he could have racked up the yards in the first couple of games:

I agree that we need to see some TD's.

Good points.  I think I overestimated him slightly, but he probably would've torn up FIU.  Who knows what would've happened at Baylor.  His first Big 12 road game (at MU) wasn't exactly pretty thru the air, and yes I know it was raining.

...and against a top 25 team that held Texas Tech to 21 points...

The TD record certainly appears to be safe.

228 YDS TO GO PER TCJ.  TD RCD LESS SAFE.
