Title: Obama Gems
Post by: AzCat on May 19, 2008, 01:57:25 PM
Today it's the Obamination on foreign policy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ew5qP2oPdtQ):

* Iran is not a serious threat to us like the Soviet Union was
* The Berlin Wall fell only because we talked with Mikhail Gorbachev
* America and the Iranian mullahs share "common interests" (maybe Obama's part of America but that's another thread ....)
* Iran can't be a real threat because they only spend "1/100th" the amount the US spends on defense

One wonders if the Iranian government passes "war funding" bills containing hundreds of billions of dollars in domestic pork and welfare and $0 for their war efforts.  This might explain some of the discrepency in defense spending.

is it possible for ultra right wingers to post this crap on another board? maybe a rule that to criticize one canidate you also have to pick out negatives of your canidate of choice?

i'm not some ultra left guy, and obama has some faults, but this crap scares me away from this board.

azcat is like the war mongering julia roberts character in charlie wilson's war, of our own ksufans board of course.

I am cool with each of those statements, FWIW.

I'll be voting for Obama this fall.  Try to keep up.

I could care less if Isreal was wiped out, but that's not what they have in common.

When Obama wins do you think he's going to make Christians put yellow crosses on their coats?

I bet he does.  I mean its so obvious he's in league with O(s)ama [O(b)ama hello? The code is obvious: switch the B for an S, and what
do B and S stand for?  Brotherhood of Satan of course] and Saddam Hussien [who is NOT dead and controlling the liberal media with his oil money].  Obama is your typical liberal elitist who hates Jesus and loves welfare.

In Obama's America, you won't be able to buy a gun to protect your things from the darkies or a Bible, but by God I bet you can get a hip-hop album or a marijuana cigarette.

In Obama's America, they will teach students there are NO wrong answers except for when your children challenge the human secularists Darwinian manifesto.

In Obama's America, the streets will be so choked with pregnant teens on welfare that Christmas will be cancelled (and Easter too!)

In Obama's America, the Mexicans will be everywhere speaking their mongrel tongue and leering at good God-fearing white women.

In Obama's America, the Gays will rove door to door, make out in front of your children, and try to convert them with their flashy clothes and designer smells.

In Obama's America, "One Nation Under God" will be removed from our coins and replaced with "الله أكبر" and the Pledge of Allegiance will be replaced by "It's Raining Men".

In Obama's America, same-sex bathrooms will become mandatory and women will freely wear pants with no repercussions.

In Obama's America, country music will be banned under penalty of torture (you won't see those mamby-pamby liberals whine about it then), and vegetarianism will be enforced on our children.

The president has no real power.  Pay more attention to how you vote in your local elections, for house reps, and for senators, hell your city council.  The presidency is a position of stature, not power.  Bush's decisions could have all been shot down if weak minded people had not been elected across the country by people who refuse to research candidates.

Oh, these threads scream I'm a moron, so please, in the future, title them as such.

The President has a LOT of power.  You need to pay closer attention to politics/history if you can't see that.  I'm not sure where the rumor got started that the President is "just a figurehead"... I seem to remember that idea being thrown about in 8th grade History class.  Yes it's true that George Bush by himself doesn't have much power, but he was the guy on the ballot and he brought all these other awful people with him into the Administration--and guess what--they set policy.

Probably true in this administration.  Cheney is pretty much the Darth Vader of American politics but he's an aberration.

That is unhinged.  Iran's sole purpose is not to destroy Israel despite whatever Rush tells you, they do occaisionally dabble in oil among other things.

I only know one Iranian but he's a pretty solid guy.  He's a story topper (I suspect some made up on the spot just for story topping purposes) but we all have our flaws.

Every Iranian expat I've ever met was a solid person.  Great folks but that doesn't mean the political minority that has gained control of that nation is anything other than absolutely bat-crap crazy.  See e.g., the modern American Democratic Party.

I think more people would take the Republican Party seriously if they hadn't just illustrated the absolute corruption and terrible ideas of the past 10 years.  The Clinton impeachment on has really been some solidly awful years.  If they would embrace Eisenhower instead of Reagan and stop the nanny-state b.s. about the impending doom of heterosexual marriage because of Ellen Degeneres and the OUTRAGE, OUTRAGE I TELL YOU, of the smut on tv and the need for the federal government to insert a feeding tube in some vegetable.

What they've proven recently, particularly when they had control of Congress, is that either party will be absolutely corrupt when in power and will spend like a pack of proverbial drunken sailors trying to retain control.  The Democrats are no better and, until recently, have usually been far worse.  The key takeaway is that government is too large, too powerful, and has too much control and influence over American business and our personal lives.  Remove a big chunk of the money and you remove a big chunk of the power and along with it most of the problem.

god, i miss the days of the tax less and stay the hell out of your life republicans. these born again christians the party has been taken over by kinda scare me. i know seperation of church and state isn't explicitly spelled out in the constitution, but it is still a good principle.

the democrats are so screwed up that they pretty much have a free shot at the white house, and they are doing their best to screw it up.

I agree.  Right now though, the Democrats are proposing less intrusive policies than Republicans on the issues I care about:

Pot
Porn
Gays
Empire
Torture
Wiretapping
Free Speech

And as far as taxes go?  Obama has a similar proposal to bring forth transparency which I think is the first step in slowing down this mammoth b.s.  I have no doubt that Obama will spend some serious cash, but at this point Republicans have ZERO credibility on being the party of responsible spending, so why not vote for my financial, cultural interests AND provide what seems like a path to reduced spending and rational decision making for the future?  Obama is NOT perfect, but he has been light years ahead of anyone on talking as openly and honestly about decision making as any POLITICIAN I've seen.  I don't think he's a saint or a prophet, but he doesn't play games like McCain or Clinton (Clinton is awful).

You completely missed my point.  "They" are the neocons in the case of the Bush administration.  Whether an individual has a lot of power by himself is irrelevant.  The person/party who gets elected to the Presidency gets full access to that 1/3 branch of our government, and in the case of the current administration, he gets to dictate to the other 2 branches what he wants.  This isn't the ideal scenario drawn up by the forefathers, but first with Lincoln, then FDR, and now Bush Jr, we are seeing that the President gets to do a whole lot of things the forefathers may never have intended.  So my point is, it makes a big difference who wins the election.

qfmt.  i'm a registered 'pub, and have never voted for a 'pub candidate in a nat'l election.  they spend as bad (actually worse) than dems and are far worse in attacking my personal liberties.

basically, the only logical recourse is to leave the country and let america die without me.
