General advice for someone who is going to see The Police tonight...?
Also, any decent, quick places to eat around the area?
-
tons of places to eat (including a chipolte :fatty: ) right across the street, just pick one and chow
enter on the OAK street side
-
Go to Gordon Biersch and ask for Steuwe. When he shows up at your table tell him to get you a beer and make it snappy. Then, when he's all "WTF!?" just laugh and tell him to get lost. This must all be done with exacting precision or it could blow up in your face.
-
If you're wanting something to drink, go to the mini-QT they have inside. 99 cent squishees.

I think I made a mistake listening to you say this six months ago and went in on the Oak Street side for the KSU game. We waited in line until 7 minutes into the game, waiting in line there for about 20 minutes or more.
They had one door open for half the time until they could pull people off the Grand side.
Bottom line, show up >30 minutes before and there isn't an issue. (yeah I know the concert is already over).

your a fool, get out of your small town shell dude. :beerchug:
There is no problem with downtown KC.
Actually my problem is the :ku: cover for P&L.

it's aggieville, but with stupid rich people elitism, and 30-40 year olds acting like college students.
creepy.
-
Kansas City loyalist crack me up. I know people who have an inferiority complex to all other cities, like I have to ku.

I hate to break it to you, but that is known by everyone else as "the real world."
Your view is skewed by the fact that you have educated/foreign parents and are friends with a bunch of smart/cool peeps with educations.
Most of the world just isn't like that. You realize that the NFL is our most popular sport right?
-
it's kind of our job to point it out and make them feel bad.
fyi.
-
btw, r u @ hale? let's go to shuttle or something. pm.

rofl, you are calling me a KC loyalist? Far from it actually, I could tell you plenty of things that are wrong with this town, starting with the mess that Frankenstein Mayor Funk has created.
All I'm saying is that every time Fatty gets a chance he bashes on downtown KC, which I don't understand. I do know that the only place he compares it to is OK city.
I have only been down there a few times (KC), but they have been good times and I don't see where his beef is based.

Honestly Detroit has a better downtown than K.C. post-Comerica/Ford Field.
K.C.'s downtown is embarassing and the city has continued to make things worse by reinvesting in Truman and the Raceway area. Sprint Center is stranded in nothingness and the walkability of the downtown is next to nothing.
Detroit has a really nice River Walk and has completely refurbished the Ren-Cen to go with the b-ball/f-ball stadia (and hockey is <10 blocks away).
K.C. is waaaay too spread out and suburbanized for it to ever get a good downtown. So many things would have to change for it to happen. OKC by comparison invested around the arena and made Bricktown really nice.
We'll see what happens with the Sprint Center, but if they can't find a permanent tenant then d/t will never be half as vibrant in KC as any serious metro area. KC has great neighborhoods/areas but hasn't put it all together.

KC has no public transportation, I have a friend in Denver (outside of Denver) that lives as far from downtown as I do and takes a bus to go out. Downtown KC would be fine with some sort of bus/workable light rail system.

The light rail thing has turned from a glimmering hope to a giant turd. They don't even want to hook it up with the airport (for the last six months) and want to re-vote on it again. Kansas doesn't want to give any money so Joco is being left out which makes them all bitch and moan when the reality is that they are all too GD stuck up to ride light rail.
Unfortunately I'm not sure light rail even makes it here. Maybe the section through downtown is profitable but for me to drive 10 miles, park, then ride to the sprint center is kinda redundant. I might as well drive the 10 miles to sprint center and pay 10 dollars to park anyways. :ugh:

Suburbanites.

Ways to improve KC:
1. Trade the NFL for the NBA (SONICS!)
2. Trade Nascar for the NHL (though I have never watched or followed it may lead to more Canadians who are awesome moving in and rednecks moving out)
3. Trade Cabellas and Great Wolf Lodge for upgrades in size and scope to Worlds of Fun.
5. Move MLB stadium downtown
6. Make aforementioned NBA stadium downtown (or just play at the Sprint Center which would be fine as well).
7. Leave the T-Bones how they are (you don't mess with perfection)
8. Ban smoking in the rest of the areas where it is not yet banned
Wanted to add public tran. system but I don't believe that would ever work in KC. Please write in vote sd for mayor in upcoming elections.

T-Town. People kill each other. Coupled with the Westboro Baptist Church, and the KANSAS EXPOCENTRE, well, you just can't beat that for your entertainment dollar.
