Title: Good places to rent in Lenexa or OP area
Post by: ArchE_Cat on April 01, 2008, 08:00:16 PM
I'll be working for a firm in Lenexa this summer (June through mid August) and we (me, wife and 1 munchkin) need a place, preferrably two bedroom. What's good, what areas do I avoid, anybody have any connections? Thanks.

I was curious to see how many posts we'd get before this one. Way to not disappoint.

ArchE, you have a PM btw.

The office is at Pflumm and 99th, so pretty much 435 & 35intersection.

I lived at 119th and Blackbob, at the Homestead. Its maybe 6 or 7 minute drive from your work. I really liked the place while I was there.

Are you looking for an apartment, townhome, house, or does it matter? I guess it all depends on what you're wanting and what you want to spend. I know when I was looking for an apartment a few years back in the same area there was an apartment complex right down the street from your office called Pinnacle Pointe. They were a little higher than I was wanting to spend so I never looked at them. I guess they're supposed to be fairly nice though. I'm sure they get plenty of traffic noise from being right next to 35 and 435 though.

There's plenty of new apartment complexes in the area and while there's not very many areas to avoid I would avoid complexes that are too cheap. Here's a link to a crime map for Lenexa, http://65.70.140.107/website/lencrime/disclaimer.html. There's only been one crime in Pinnacle Pointe this year and that was theft.

Finding a place for the summer has become pretty difficult. What does anyone know about Jefferson Place in Olathe or Autumn Park in OP? These are two of the four places we have it narrowed down to, but also the two we have found the littlest info about.

Considering it's $650 for a two bedroom and you can most likely go cheaper I'm going to guess it's not real great. Maybe the price is low because there's only 804 sq. ft. though and one bath. That's tiny for a two bedroom.

At least you get more room with the Autumn Park one. No washer and dryer in either one. Ugh.

If you don't want to say you don't have to, but what's your price range?

Take out a student loan (esl if they still have those) and live in a decent place and try to have fun. You're an ArchE major (I'm guessing). You'll make decent money. When you look back (even 10 years from now) a thousand bucks or whatever extra you spend now won't make a difference. Have fun. Don't stress. Live in a fun/nice place and enjoy.

jesus, what a depressing thread.

Live in Quality Hill Towers.  Cheap and short term leases.  And you're not in f*cking BFE.

The problem is that no one offers a 3 month lease. And the places that do charge you an extra $100 - $250 per month for a short lease. I would probably spend up to $950 a month as long as it was within 5 miles of my office (they are paying me plenty, plus I have paid leave I'll be getting from my current job at a double-digit per hour rate). But, finding a nice place that will give you a 3 month lease within 5 - 7 miles of where I'll be, has become a pretty good challenge.

What does anyone know about Marquis at lakeside? The place I'll be working at was going to pull so strings, so hopefully they'll have some good info for me when I go visit today.

Oh, just realize you had a kid.  Dumb to get pregnant in school.
