Your family moving to manhattan made for some great times for all of us, between the games and the blogs, we enjoyed them all.  Hope you guys have enjoyed it as much as we have.

No matter what decision is made(although I'm sure one has already been made) good luck to you and yours.

Thanks for being a part of our community.

The big question is:  What's the plan?  I know you and Lil' Mike are going to sit down and talk about it, but I'd really like to know your thoughts.

We have been blessed by both you and Lil' Mike being here and giving us a lot to look forward too, and even though it didn't pan out this season, it would be good to know what is going through your mind.   I realize this question is asked many times, and I realize you've made no decision, but certainly, you've pondered the what if's and what advice do you as a mom of such a young and talented man, say?

I third that sentiment.  Let the Beasley/Smith family deal with this on their own terms.  That said, I hope every KSU fan appreciates what a wonderful season this has been.  We will most likely never see another player like Mike don the purple and white.  Win or lose, it was always fun to watch.  Thank you, Fatima, for letting us see a more intimate side of your family's life.  We'll all be pulling for your family to be well, regardless of where next year finds you.  Mike, Bill, Jake, Ron, (Clent, but he doesn't belong in this group, he's been making Wildcat fans proud for years now.)  Blake, Dom, Darren, etc. have made KSU basketball an exciting event this year, something we haven't been able to say for over a decade.  Best of luck to all of our players who are moving on, and here's to next year.  I honestly believe this year was the beginning of the resurgence of KSU basketball.

Thanks Fatima for being a part of this board.   We all knew Mike was going to be a great player for us, but he exceeded all of our expectations.    He represented himself and this university so well.

Best of luck to Mike, you and your family in the future.   All of us are B-Easy fans 4 life.  :notworthy:

Thanks so much for everything.  I sincerly hope that whatever decision is made is best for Mike and the rest of your family.  I am so glad you took the time to experience our town and university.  You have become a great fan and ambassador of K-State.  Bad thing about purple pride is that it's a ailment that has no cure.  I'll warn you right now, later in your life, you will reflect on this time and smile.

P.S. when you and Mike are next interviewed about Manhattan; could you please take a second to draw a picture of the town through your eyes.  Certainly, it's not D.C., L.A. or even K.C.  But according to CBS's piece, it apparently is a field, a cattle pen, and a water tower.  I haven't been to the Little Apple for a couple of weeks, but I'm pretty sure they have buildings, electricity, running water, indoor plumbing, and a great university filled with great people.

Have a blessed remainder of the school year.  Hope the rest of the crew is doing well.  Mychaela, love the scooter, but as a rider, I encourage you to take the MSF safety course.  Not only will it help you to develop your riding skills, but it will make you a better driver regardless of how many wheels you are on.

Thank you for the way that your family has represented Kansas State with such a bright spotlight being shined on you and your family.  It has been fantastic to watch Mike on and off the court.  It's not often that you find someone that handles their business off the court as they do on.

Mom B-Eazy,

Is Mike ready to send shockwaves through the college basketball world by announcing that he is playing at KSU for the next 3 years?  It would be a great example for the young kids who look up to athletes like Mike.

What if "being like Mike" included getting a college degree?  What if your son was the poster boy for all that is right in college athletics?  What if Mike walked across a stage to grab a diploma before he grabbed an NBA jersey?

Or, Mike could declare, sign a huge contract, make tons of money and just forget about all of that idealistic nonsense.  Can't blame him if that's his choice.

lol....

large sums of money,

or

working in a lame office with co-workers you hate getting a measley lunch break while driving some POS car to work in rush hour traffic. chances are your boss will be knob and make you work late when youre supposed to be going out with your friends. youll have to work there long enough just to SNIFF a decent vacation, and by the time you get enough days off to relax, you want to quit. then the cycle starts all over again. this time, across town. one thing will be the same though. not having 14-20 guaranteed millions of dollars.

They are all selfish reasons.  Undeniably selfish reasons from ksu fans who wouldn't make the same decision they are asking Mike to make.  If Mike played for ku, would those same people still want him to stay for all those "honorable and rational reasons"?  Hell no.  KSU fans want him to stay because he played for KSU, not because there would be any "honor" in it.

Ma-Beaz,

Thank you to you and your entire family for a very memorable year in KSU athletics.  Where ever Mike ends up playing next season, I know that we will see wonderful things from him on the court.  And although they won't be as publicized (unfortunately so), I know we'll hear of the wonderful person he continues to be off the court.  God gave him amazing talent, but his mother and his family have made him an amazing person.

Good luck, God bless, and thanks for the memories.

PS - If Mike finds himself in "the league" next season, watch out for those telefund folks.  They will definitely be calling.   :D

Yeah, getting a degree is completely selfish.   It has no value and no worth despite what you're taught when you grow up.   It is completely selfish to think he shouldn't stay, get his degree which will help him with future business decisions considering how much wealth he'll have.

Lord knows people with degrees suck.

The only reason he should stay if he wants a college ball legacy.  He can't comeback and get a final four after he goes pro.  College won't make him any more money.  Bill would benefit from a degree more than Mike.

Nothing could stop him from getting a degree 20 years from now, after his salad days in the NBA are over.  Rolando did it that way; worked out fine for him.

Though for purely selfish reasons, I'd love for Mike to come back to K-State, I couldn't in good conscience advise him to do that.  There's no real upside for him to stay, other than to create his legacy here.  He's proven everything he needs to prove.

Legacies ain't worth 20 million, unfortunately.  IMHO, of course...

Why did you get your degree?  To get a job, right?  Why does Mike need a degree?  Do people with degrees always do the right things with their money?

Would you want or care if he got a degree if he was just another student on campus?  Or does it matter that he can shoot a jumpshot?

You want him to stay so KSU basketball will be good/great.  That's it.

You guys are really something.  Do you think you are bringing up points that they have not considered?  Take off your purple glasses for a few, please.  I'm not saying they should do one thing over the other; noneya has ever had to make this type of decision.  You should only hope that at the end of the day, they make the best choice for them.  If Mike leaves, that's okay, he's an incredible person with an extraordinary family.  Money is important and it would be difficult to turn it down.  On the other hand, you're only young once, and things will change for good and bad if you turn your love into your profession.  Regardless, I wish them all well and am happy that they will always be Wildcats.

This doesn't logically follow from Catzacker's argument.  If he takes the floor next year, Catzacker will be booing those who advised him to stay, not booing Beasley.

I would never fault Mike for HIS decision, but I'd certainly question the motives of someone who advised a person to pass up hundreds of thousands in lost interest on earnings...and risk millions with potential injury.

have him get insured.

The NCAA has been offering insurance to elite athletes for 15 years, but it was a little-used program until January 2003, when University of Miami football player Willis McGahee suffered a horrific knee injury in the national title game. After seeing such a bright future apparently felled with one blow (though McGahee eventually recovered), interest in the NCAA insurance program spiked; now about 150 athletes a year secure policies, the heavy majority in football and men's basketball.

The policies are generally for injuries that end a career, not ones that cause a player's draft status to drop.

i can't wait for Mike Beasley to go pro ASAP and start enjoying the life of an NBA superstar.  +, it will be very cool to watch him play 82 + the playoffs games a year, instead of a measley 30.

money/fame can ruin a person.  it's not like it hasn't happened before.  i don't think the answer is as easy as the "take the money and run" proponents makes it.  and "the come back and enjoy college" arguments are just as silly.

the only reason beasley should come back is if he feels he's not ready for complete independence or, better yet, if he thinks he can become a more complete basketball player by coming back.

the money is enticing and almost unavoidable to accept.

It is quite clear that you don't understand Catzacker's argument, or mine.

No problem with someone who decides, for themself, that they want to give up large sums of money to do something that they enjoy more.

Problem with someone advising Mike to give up large sums of money for something that this "someone" enjoys (i.e. watching Mike play for KSU).

frack dude, I'll "support" him either way.  I won't "support" mouth-breathing dolts who try to suggest that there isn't a very real cost associated with staying, and a very real risk that the cost would escalate dramatically with an injury.

No.  That's not it at all.  All I'm asking/saying is that the only reason KSU fans want him to stay is for selfish reasons, not for some honorable reasons.  Just admit that instead of trying to mask it with some other BS reason.

I'd just have one thing to say to Mike.  When you sign that NBA contract and get that signing bonus check, remember that K-State is building a new basketball practice/operations facility.  The Michael Beasley Practice Court . . . has a nice ring to it.

Weiser got a huge raise when he went to his new job in Dallas, I wonder if he can afford it now?

Quote
On Carmelo’s name on the building:
“Well, I think the name and what Carmelo has done has helped us and will continue to help us as we go forward. That’s a huge part of college basketball. There’s a recruiting aspect that will help us. I think just to have a place where the players can go in and practice – there will be a handprint code on the door. If they want to shoot at 10 o’clock in the morning, they can go in and shoot – well, that might be unrealistic – maybe 6 o’clock at night or 8 o’clock at night if they want to go in. Paul (Harris) likes to shoot at 2:00 in the morning sometimes. That will give him the opportunity to go in there and be able to clank a few shots up there.”

BAD ASS.

frack dude, I'll "support" him either way.  I won't "support" mouth-breathing dolts who try to suggest that there isn't a very real cost associated with staying, and a very real risk that the cost would escalate dramatically with an injury.

Congrats to you for making it this long without having the "Argyle Square" label attached to your name.

Throughout your nonsensical posts earlier in this thread I wondered aloud if you were a high-functioning moron, or 14 years old.  After that shot by you, I could care less.

You crossed the line dick hole.  You are dead to me.  :blindfold:

That was way to dramatic to be a real response.  You are covering something up.  I think we all know what it is now.  Rock Chalk Petey.

It is fracking hilarious that this debate is even going on, with each side trying to validate their points.  Everyone who even casually follows college ball can recite both sides to the argument the way a second graders recites the Pledge of Allegiance.  Mike has probably been thinking about this decision since his Jr. year, at least.  No one on here is convincing him either way but to argue it is like arguing about the War.  There are 2 sides and both are well known.  For pissing in the soup.

Mom, thanks to you and Mike.  I enjoyed the hell out of this year even though I wanted to jump off a bridge saturday evening.  Enjoy Miami, it is a great city.  Don't forget about us over here.  No one at KSU will forget your son.

Ma Beaz,
Thanks so much for being a part of our KSU family.  Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.
I've really enjoyed your blogs and posts

I didn't read all the way through here.  Did anyone point out to Mom that the common belief is that K-State will be better off without Mike?

She is aware of common beliefs.  They are, after all, common.

Such a common belief, that like Global Warming, it is now accepted as a law.

Hoaxian Logic dictates that when it comes to k-state, anything spewed forth on phognet is always a "common belief".

In other news:  Cox Cable in Manhattan announced today that it is beginning sole distribution of the 24-7 Spongebob Channel.  No other city in the country is allowed to broadcast Spongebob in this format.

Mike would never do anything to hurt KSU.  Like leave early for the NBA.  That's why if he does, it's mom's fault.

I don't read anything you post.  Did anyone point out to your mom that the common belief is that she should have aborted you?
