Title: Game Thread for Wisconsin
Post by: BryEasy30 on March 22, 2008, 03:20:21 PM
Lets get it going. Big Game. Wish we were starting late, because the WVU game might not be over for awhile with fouls

I'll be in the chat until we are down by 15.

They can't stop Beasley.  This is obvious... but K-State really needs someone other than Beasley and Walker to step up.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin

Wisconsin will come back down to reality pretty soon. They wont shoot lights out all game like they are now.

No defensive intensity. And no one other than Beasley stepping up. Great moves by Be-Eazy, but he can't do it alone.

not sure where the "chat" is, so I'll stay put right here ...

Come on Cats, if you can't stop 'em, at least blow their doors off!!!!

Keep it within 10, regroup at halftime, and start hitting some shots in the 2nd half.  K-State's just playing a little too fast right now.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin
Post by: BryEasy30 on March 22, 2008, 03:51:48 PM
I really like the pace of the game. The difference is Wisconsin has hit some out of this world 3's. Good thing they will come back to earth. We need to play with a high IQ.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin
Post by: BryEasy30 on March 22, 2008, 03:53:00 PM
They are starting to pick up some fouls. I think dry land Landry as 2 already.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin
Post by: rjd27 on March 22, 2008, 03:53:55 PM
I thought K-State would need a perimeter game to negate the Wisc. big men. It's been the other way around. K-State has not outside shot right now, and the Badgers are hitting almost everything they throw up.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin
Post by: sevenyearhawk on March 22, 2008, 04:05:37 PM
State just has to keep pounding inside and boxing out!

Wisconsin will come back to earth ... I hope!

Commentators are right. Sutton is getting no respect from Wisconsin on the offensive end.  Pullen has got to be the answer.

Wisconsin has to cool off from outside, don't they?

No reason to respect. He won't shoot it.

Badgers have already shot more threes this half than they average a game ... I don't think it can last, but I'm just a Jayhawk! ;)
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin
Post by: FL_JHawk on March 22, 2008, 04:22:09 PM
Good comeback at the half.  Wisky is starting to pick up some fouls and cool off with their outside shooting.  The second half ought to be pretty interesting, but I see KSU winning if they keep focused.  Still, Wisky was pretty impressive at the beginning, so I won't be surprised if they come back with a big run, either.

Clent and blake need to hit some 3's.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin
Post by: BryEasy30 on March 22, 2008, 04:26:10 PM
We need to start to hit some open shots and contest theirs. down 6 points is nothing. Lets create some havoc and hit some open shots. Lets get them in more foul trouble.

I know, but at some point don't you want him to at least take a shot to see if his jump shot showed up?  I mean, he's a Div I basketball player getting 6 feet of cushion faced up to the basket.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin
Post by: ClayKat on March 22, 2008, 04:35:52 PM
Then he TOTALLY redeems himself and misses a 3.  Oh well, sometimes just the willingness to shoot the ball will bring the defender out...generally, you have to make 1 or 2 first though.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin
Post by: WilliamTheWildcat on March 22, 2008, 04:36:16 PM
If 'Nique isn't going to shoot that, we may have to see some Fred Brown.  You KNOW Fred will fire away.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin
Post by: BryEasy30 on March 22, 2008, 04:36:45 PM
Sutton needs to just drive to the basket everytime and he can kick out. Frank Martin needs to draw some stuff up, we need to start to hit some outside shots, my gosh.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin
Post by: WilliesToeNail on March 22, 2008, 04:42:18 PM
Sutton acts like Frank threatned his first born if he takes a shot. Wonder what that's about?
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin
Post by: BryEasy30 on March 22, 2008, 04:42:48 PM
Eventually Wisconsin is going to miss some 3's. It just seems the ball is bouncing their way. We know we have to firepower to come back. Lets go.

QFT, desperate times call for desperate measures.  It's hard to drive on someone who plays 6 feet off of you.

We've got about 6 minutes to get this to a working margin.  It's got to start w/ Walker.

Shots falling for Wisconsin, not for the Cats.  Not our day, but i'm still proud of this group.  No shame in getting beaten by the #5 team in the country who has only lost 4 games all year.

Whoa, whoa, whoa....not ready to concede that.  No shame in it, but there's a helluva big difference between no shame and fracking the prom queen because you just beat the #5 team in the country.

All right, Freddy, if you're not on - then it's ballgame.  I can't think of anyone else who may be able to hit from the outside.

He's trying.  Missing FT's isn't helping.  Ya gotta nail those to cut into the margin.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin

We have to get it to 6-8 points with 4 minutes to play to have a chance. Every possesion is financial at this point.

Instead of cutting into it we have given them a larger margin.  Tough team to come from 13 down.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin

Damn, Beasley's had two rebounds he should've had if he didn't mistime his jump. He needs another year to fix that. That will KILL him in the NBA.

It's time to get Beasley some open outside looks and send the guards, including Blake Young, to the boards.  Our only chance at this point.

What pisses me off about basketball.

You have to recruit defensive guards but they usually can't shoot.  :banghead:

Clemente will be a boost and so will Tyree.

If we had them then this is a final 4 team.

And we'll get good shooters the year the shot gets a foot farther away.

Would have liked to see it a bit closer, but it's about what you can expect when you take a young team vs an experienced team that has only lost 4(!) games this season.
Title: Re: Game Thread for Wisconsin

It's easy to say it wasn't a bad season when all your key players come back - it's more difficult to say that when you're losing your best two players.  I know Frank said Jamar and Denis were phenomenal, but I need to build a bit more trust with him before it gets me too stoked.

Very true.  I will enjoy the new phog.net talking point about how Frank is such a terrible coach, and how he got totally out-coached by Bo Ryan.

Don't know what else you'd ask Whisky to do.  We have shot 30% from the field. .000 from three.  They have defended us very well.  And Bo Ryan has shown that he's good coach IMO.

He was 0 for 3, right?  I don't know, I think moving the 3 pt. line back might end up benefiting us unfortunately.  I'm just disappointingly numb right now.  When does the post-game conference start?  Maybe Bill & Beaz will feel sorry for the fanbase and make an early announcement that they'll be back.  Maybe I should keep drinking...
