Title: K-State rolls dice on Huggins, Prince

Huggins' hiring might have made less sense. To a large portion of those same college administrators, he is radioactive -- for a different reason. The last we saw of Huggy Bear, a police cruiser was catching his highly embarrassing DUI arrest on tape.

567 wins, 20 20-win seasons, 15 Big Dances, 5 First Round NBA Draft Picks, 7 COY awards, 3 Elite 8's and a Final Four.....Does that make enough sense for you Dodd?????

His rebound job is in a recruiting backwater where basketball has just about ceased to be relevant, at least to everyone outside the recruiting backwater.

............

So, hell yes, there's a lot on the line. K-State football is coming off consecutive last-place finishes in the Big 12 North, while basketball's last NCAA trip was 10 years ago.

Desperate times call for desperate ADs.

..........

Prince laid out the last six years of recruiting classes in the Big 12 and where K-State stood in that mix. It couldn't have been good. For better or worse, Snyder didn't recruit five-star players. He couldn't in Manhattan.

..........

He wanted to visit with friend George Karl and former Cincinnati players around the NBA. Then old friend Eddie Fogler called with an interesting proposition.

I know you don't want to live in Manhattan, Kansas ...

That is how Fogler would preface the conversation. Not exactly the approach you'd want from the guy working for K-State as a search consultant. The former Wichita State, Vanderbilt and South Carolina coach was merely cutting through the BS.

yeah, i guess it could have been worse.  not too bad, it's pub.

The beginning of the article makes you think "Here we go again" but it actually turns out to be a pretty good article.

should i expect this writer to talk about how much ass we kicked in basketball over the past ten years?  or that prince was well-known and a catch for a d1 program?? all this is pretty much fact. and people are going to call huggins a risk because he was fired from his previous job and it wasnt because of results.  its going to happen until he succeeds then i figure they will focus more on cincy bashing for letting him go.

High risk because of a dui? Please!  Just where does DUI belong? Between Rape and Murder, Bank robbery. Those that have that come out of their mouths are lost and without hope. The hiring of Huggins was Brilliant not desperate! So much for POLITICAL CORRECTNESS!!!  Yes, the pres of U.C. is the one that messed up IMNSHO! :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah:
