I have a buddy who is Catholic. Nice guy. Anyways, he won't eat meat on fridays. Chicken counts as a meat, but eggs do not.
How come the human fetus counts as a human if an egg does not count as a meat? Can anyone help me out on this? TIA.

Because the chicken egg isn't fertilized while the human egg is. Next! :jerkoff:

they can be. doesn't impact their classification as meat/not meat.
saul has a good point, imo. fertilized human ova (such as those harvested in fertility clinics and then frozen) should be a permissible lenten food.

A chicken egg is still a chicken egg.
We eat both.
A human egg still turns into a human.
Humans kill each other.
Not sure what the problem here is.

Yum, just like caviar. :lick:

The only reason people eat caviar is so they can wash it down with barrels of champagne or vodka.
Me? I'd rather go for the devil'd eggs and brewskis.

I'm thinking about making Soylent Green Eggs and Ham for St. Patty's day.

All religions make no sense. Why pick on just one?

The point is to make a sacrifice. Not to make a statement about not eating living things. Fish are perfectly acceptable to eat on Fridays.
I think the Pope gave us a choice to give up alcohol or meat on Fridays during Lent and the entire Catholic population unanimously chose to give up the latter.

I have an affinity for the Catholic Church. The people that populate it are the first reason why.

having a min. @ the wed. was pretty lol, btw.

Not the point of the thread.
Egg = Chicken. Eggs should not be acceptable during lent, but they are.

It depends on the Catholic. Some say "red meat". Some say "any meat." I know of few catholics who make worthy sacrifices.

Yeah, nobody rips the entrails out of their firstborn's gut anymore. Or was that a Jewish thing? I get those two mixed up all the time.

Well, in this case, chickens = meat, eggs = not meat.

Egyptians I think are the ones that ripped out their guts.
Jewish people hack off half of the male penis.

I'm Catholic (although I think religion is mostly nonsense), and I am missing part of my anatomy. For whatever reason Americans don't like foreskin, it's not just a religious thing.
I kind of like the concept of Lent--that you can make a change for 6 weeks that should conceivably be for the better. If everyone gave up meat one day a week everyone would be healthier and we could reduce greenhouse emissions (sorry mjrod.)
-
your foreskin comment reminds me...
hows come we dont have fried chicken skins?
pork skins are amazing. im sure fried chicken skins would make a killing.

I had to read this last comment over, I thought it said Jewish people whack off the male penis. I was ready to convert.
