Title: We have the Flint Hills/tuttle creek/konza prairie
Post by: fatty fat fat on February 29, 2008, 05:48:58 PM
does Lawrence have anything nice?

Serious Q. I've pretty much never been there outside of a few KSU football games, and visiting my sister a few times.

Shorter drive to KC.

this is where our world-renowned regional airport comes into play.

But yeah, i get your point.

i've driven through there on my way to missouri (nice place if you ever have the chance, btw).

some of the downtown architecture is interesting.  not as nice as mhk's, obviously, but worth a look.  needless to say the campus is a disaster.

Their car tires are down past lincolns head on a penny so their stopping distance is poor.  :runaway:

It pretty much looks the same as any other small town in Kansas.  The truth may hurt too much for some of us from small towns in Kansas to accept, but that's what it is.

The campus around the stadium and Campanile is not bad, but the rest of the campus is kid of a CF. The area south of Lawrence and around Clinton Lake isn't too bad, but it's not nearly as compelling as the Flint Hills.

went to country stampede with my buddy.  had such a bad time my buddy had to come pick me up from lawrence.  manhattan is brutal.  he said he was taking us somewhere nice to eat.  we ate at some mongolian buffet.  said he would show me around town.  took me down a highway to a lookout point over a crapty lake.  flint hills are boring,  town is trash.

I never mentioned the c-stampede as a selling point at all.

And KSU's campus is MUCH nicer than Gay-U's.

Let's get this straight. One buddy took you to country stampede and you got sunburned and had a different buddy come get you from Larryville?? Then that second buddy "showed" you Manhattan by driving you down a highway to a lookout point over a lake. Dude you were already AT that lake. It's the same place where the country stampede was being held ... and of course, you're going to judge the town because you ate at a Chinese buffet?? Dude, it's a Chinese buffet, what are you thinkin'? If you're too broke ass to eat somewhere nice, you don't know a clue as to what constitutes a decent town. Please stay in your KC-suburb wannabe town.

Why does ESPN even bother going there every year when they could have come to Manhattan this year?

Really, the only major difference is the fact that it is nearer to Johnson Co. so there are more stuck up pricks there and it's a shorter drive.

I visited and toured both schools and made the obvious decision. If I wanted to live in Johnson County, I'd move to KC.

Surprise a little Sally like you madeit out of Stampede.

Having your "buddy" drive from Lawrence to pick you up is gayer than George Michaels and Boy George racing their Miatas.

Why are we even comparing these towns?  recruiting?  East Lansing is a total DUMP and MSU has more success than uk.

Lawrence has a love for the homeless that is unparalleled in this country.
